Do you have a monthly or weekly DVD budget?
More of a monthly budget. I look at what titles I want in a month and speculate how much it will cost me. If I'm satisfied with the amount I come up with then I stick to that monthly "want" list. If it's more than I want to spend then I roll over a title or two to the next month.

Do you stick to a budget or do you buy anything that you have on your list that you really want and more importantly can find?
While there are always exceptions I generally stick to my budget.

Do you pre-order a lot of your titles to get a slight discount?
No.

Do any of you ever find yourself trying to explain your collection size to anyone?
Only my girlfriend, Gloria. She has complained to me a few times about the size of my collection(currently 580 discs and over 600 titles). When I remind her that she often prefers to come and visit me, and watch some of my DVDs, as opposed to seeing something in a theater, she quiets down. tongue-1

Has your collection size grown to the point that storage is now an issue?
No, not yet.

Do you make 'blind buy' purchases on a regular basis?
No, not on a regular basis.

Is your TV on DVD collection larger than you thought it was?
No.

Is your film on DVD collection, larger than you ever thought it would be?
I've imagined my collection reaching 1000 titles. After that...well, I might need a respirator. freak out

When you purchase a new DVD, how long before you actually sit down and watch it?
Lately, it takes me a while, often several days to several weeks before I sit down and watch a DVD I've purchased.

Do you have any sealed or a large stack of unwatched DVDs, in your collection, today?
Currently I have about fifteen(15) DVDs sitting on my "damn coffee table".

How do you store your DVDs? Shelving units, etc? How do you put them in order?
I use wire racks and shelve units specifically designed for DVDs.

Quote:

Are all your DVDs on display or do you feel you need to tuck some away, due to content, when company visits?
All of my DVDs are on display.

Do any of you use NetFlix or any other rental service and if so, has that had any affect on your DVD purchases....more or less?
I do not use Netflix or Blockbuster Online.

Quote:

Do you house your collection of titles using an online catalog site or have you made up your own way of keeping track of your collection?
I use DVDAficianado to list my titles.

Quote:

Buy used or new or a wee bit of both?
Mostly new but the used disc every now and then.

Quote:

Do you ever have a clear-out and go through your collection and get rid of titles you purchased blindly and didn't care for or because of re-releases or just because the film no longer appeals to you?
Yes, I give away, on average, about 8-10 DVDs a year in this regard, mailing them to my best friend in Dover, DE.

If you're willing to purchase DVDs, used, have you ever found a DVD that was a real bargain?
I used to find used "bargains" at Movie Trading Company all the time...until this retailer closed down.

If something were to happen to you, is there a family member or close friend that enjoys your taste in films and you'd give them the collection?
In my will one of my best friends here in Atlanta would take custody of all my $ and possessions, including my DVD collection.
