The Boogeyman

Preview:
It's January, 1962 and thirty eight year old Joseph Patterson has just lost his wife and only daughter in a tragic automobile accident. Overwhelmed with grief and despair the former U.S. Marine veteran of World War 2 and the Korean War loses himself to a motel room and a case of whiskey. Fired from his security guard job, the ex-Marine sniper, at the final behest of a Marine comrade, seeks the advice of a psychologist who suggests the former U.S. Marine sergeant leave town for awhile to clear his head. Joe Patterson decides to follow the doctor's advice and quietly leaves the city limits.

The bereaved Patterson, concluding in a semi-drunken haze that he has nothing to live for, drives out of his hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin heading southeast, his destination a stretch of beach in Virginia near his birthplace where Patterson can find the tranquility he needs in order to place a .357 revolver in his mouth and pull the trigger...

As Patterson nears the eastern seaboard his station wagon breaks down on an isolated and remote stretch of highway, in a snowstorm, somewhere in the rugged woodlands of northern West Virginia. While walking through the snow covered barrens Joe Patterson comes upon an empty and apparently deserted farmhouse. There Joseph Michael Patterson is about to discover, at this old farmhouse, all the motivation he'll ever need...to live.

The former Marine sniper, with over forty confirmed kills in two wars, will become the hunted. Patterson's thoughts of suicide will be replaced by something else: fear.

It's a war of wills between a suicidal former U.S. Marine sniper named Joe Patterson and a menacing, inhuman intruder of unknown origin, in and around a remote and isolated farmhouse surrounded by the rugged, snow covered woodlands of West Virginia in the early winter of 1962.
The stakes: Joe Patterson's sanity...and his life.
