Yes. That said I do not think this breakthrough will translate into any miracle anti-cancer drug in the immediate future...possibly even our own lifetimes. I have always believed that one day researchers in medicine and other related scientific fields will discover a means by which to treat all forms of cancers. I also believe it will not happen in our lifetimes, but possibly within the next 50-60 years. This belief is a pessimistic one, I think. I've seen first hand what cancer can do: I lost my mother to stomach cancer in 1983. I also lost an aunt in 1988 to lung cancer. There is nothing that would please me more than seeing this insidious condition permanently eradicated. I just think it's going to take longer than my own lifetime before the medical and scientific community gets it done. |
