As some one who watches movies all the time I tend to "rate" the performances of actors/actresses in my head. I can tell you that are a lot of good performances that have been turned in by actors and actresses over the years. I think everyone would agree with that statement. What about those "unforgettable" performances that really left an impression with you? What are the acting performances that have made that impression? Post the actor's name and film. Feel free to elaborate as to why. All replies welcome.

Thread starter-mine: 1. Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade(1995)-Set in rural Arkansas, we are introduced to "Carl", a mildly retarded man with a permanent, albeit benign smirk, drab clothes and a coarse, slightly hillbilly drawl who has been incarcerated since the age of 12 for killing his own mother as she fornicated with a man that was not Carl's father. Carl is released and travels, via bus, to a town where he befriends a small boy and his mom, works at a lawnmower repair shop(as a handyman/helper), and returns to his old ways with a blade in dealing with a hateful bully(played by Dwight Yoakam) who wants to marry the boy's mother. In my opinion one of the best acting performances I have ever seen. thumbs up
