I believe this "war" may reach a far more swift conclusion now, with this news. Agreed. Agreed. I wonder how long the HD-DVD format will hang around, and how much longer HD-DVD players will sell in retailers like Best Buy. confused That, Josh, may already be happening. I bought a Blu-Ray DVD player for $299.99, on sale, despite the option of buying a Toshiba HD-DVD player for $249.99, a full $50 less. The reason I paid more: the Best Buy sales associate, and a Magnavox product representative, both told me they believed Blu-Ray would be the prevailing format, and would be within eighteen months to two years. I saw several other potential customers, considering a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player purchase, talking with the Magnavox rep, who told them the same thing he told me. Agreed. At $25-35 a pop I cannot buy as many Blu-Ray discs. I will continue to buy regular DVDs and 'sprinkle" in Blu-Ray buys when it's a movie I really want or something I already have, really like, and want to upgrade. |
