Produced after a five-year hiatus after the failure of Ultraman Leo, this series was supposed to be in it's own continuity, but it was decided it would be in the showa timeline mid series. To me, the music has more in common with the Heisei Ultras than the showas. The opening/closing songs are performed by TALIZMAN, an (at the time) extremely popular new wave group in Japan. Similar to how Tiga's OP was performed by V6. The human scenes are directed by Gamera series director Noriaki Yuasa, who does an extremely better job than in the Gamera film. The special effects are done by a young Koichi Kawakita, with the monster suits by Eizoh Kaimai. Kawakita does a very advanced job for the time, though it pales in comparison to his later work. Opening 1: Ultraman 80's theme by TALIZMAN Opening 2: Ganbare Ultraman 80 by TALIZMAN and Columbia Cradle Club Closing 1: The Man with a Burning Heart- Takeshi Yamato's Song by Kouji Numata & Toru Fuyuki(Very pretty! I love the synth pluckings, very sweet) Closing II: Chikyuujin dan yo(You're an Earthling) by TALIZMAN and Columbia Cradle Club.(My fav closing theme ever) |
