NY: Tsuburaya Productions wanted to just remake the original Ultraman television series, but the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) wanted to produce something a little different. That's why Ultraman was made a school teacher. That presented him with the problem of not being able to turn into Ultraman in front of his students. (Tsuburaya Productions produced all of the Ultraman series. It was founded by Eiji Tsuburaya, who directed the special effects for almost all of the science fiction and war movies produced by Toho before 1970.) After the first season, a key member of the staff was assigned to work on a radio program. That's why the series became more like the original series, and why it was not very successful.
