I got this book last December (also from Amazon), haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I had a look through and I have to say I especially liked the Ultraman section; it was a bit shorter than I expected, but the pictures were great! Especially that full-page photograph of Ultraman doing his specium beam... yes, the one that I always use as my avatar!

Originally, I submitted a 90,000-word manuscript to Chronicle Books and we had to cut it down to 50,000. So, as you can imagine, the Ultraman section was much beefier with more behind-the-scenes details about the production, including original casting choices for the series (very different than what we got). I've decided to save that material for a future project. :)

specium beam...

The official English spelling is "Spacium" as noted in my book--we discussed every aspect of names and how they would be rendered, and all of which were approved by Tsuburaya Productions--can't get more official than that! :)

Cheers!
