Indeed. There should be more car pooling in Atlanta, GA, Dan, according to so called "studies". Is there? Nope. As of last year 85% of all cars driven around Atlanta on the roads and interstates were driven solo, with one occupant. The bus system here in Atlanta, MARTA, is often unreliable and has been cutting service back on it's routes for the last several years(to balance MARTA's budget, which was thrown out of whack a couple of years ago by a large-scale case of internal fraud and abuse of $ within MARTA's executive ranks-MARTA took a massive PR hit and is still recovering from that public "black-eye"). For every ten cars on the road in Atlanta on any given day, between 8 and 9 are occupied by a single occupant. I know people Dan that would rather drive a half mile to the pharmacy to pick up meds than walk. Probably the same kind of folks who try to charge a bag of potato chips at a convenience store on their ******* Mastercard. I once saw a woman enter a BP and write a check for a pack of gum. Were the people of Atlanta light bulbs Dan, you can be sure there are a plenty of them around of the low wattage variety. |
