For the list you spoke of, Action/Horror/Monster I'd say a PS2 or Gamecube would be a good idea. Gamecubes are really cheap compared to other systems and have a decent amount of action games and if you like the Resident Evil games, all of them are avaliable for the system. Same goes with the PS2 except it may be a little more expensive, but there is an incredible amount of games in comparison to the Gamecub's library...
