Site founder - Your best nightmare

As the year 2006 is about to conclude I thought I would add one final conclusion of my own, regarding this discussion site, myself, and all of you, the registered members of this site. Let me start by saying that on January 29, 2006, and without much premeditation, I started Monsterland Forums through the Invisionfree website. I had no idea what I was doing, and though it was hardly planned, I had a clear reason for doing it. I started this discussion site because of my own negative experiences at other kaiju discussion sites, which will remain unnamed. No point in beating a dead horse. I've been a lifelong fan of Godzilla, Ultraman, and horror/sci-fi movies since I was a kid. I thought it might be interesting, and even a little fun, to start up a site, put some of my opinions and takes on these movies, and the characters that starred in them, in front of everyone to see, and then see how people would respond. I'm sure there are negative reviews of "Packmule", along with the positive. That's okay. I understand that when one puts one's work in front of others one must accept that not all the feedback will be positive. I have made mistakes. Earlier this year, and through my ignorance of the "Admin CP" of this site I accidentally deleted about 22 posts in the "Video gaming" thread. Thankfully, it's a mistake I have not repeated. I also deleted the membership of several individuals on this site because of an emotional reaction I had in response to some things going on between me and another individual at other sites. This deletion should never have happened. It is a mistake I will not repeat. Like many other "kaiju" fans I became quite annoyed, even angry, at the acrimony and bickering that occurred at other "kaiju" discussion boards, and I let myself get caught up in it. Another mistake I will not repeat. On a more positive note I have made many internet "friends" in the eleven months since MF started: "KaijuFanatic", "Ro-Dan", "King Joe", "Johnny Rod", to name a few. I would like to thank both Dan("Ro-Dan") and Kimi("KaijuFanatic"), not to mention Corey("King Joe"), who "minded the store" here in my absence, while I was offline for 18 days during my move, back in July(7/1-7/18). I take comfort in knowing that if I ever have to be away from the computer, this site will be taken care of. I have spent a great deal of time on this site, mostly adding/subtracting site modifications and links. It is my belief, and also something I consider my obligation, to provide those browsing this site, member or not, with a variety of things that they can try: the various links I have added, in addition to the YouTube trailer(s) at the bottom of the main page, and the ChatBox, which is an additional means with which to communicate with others. I recently purchased a domain, and this discussion site will essentially be the domain, for a few more months anyway. It is my goal to have a working webpage up and running, with this discussion site part of that page, by the fall of 2007. I don't foresee the page being anything extravagant, but, as always, I will work at it, and try to make it something people will want to visit from time to time. I do not foresee this discussion site ever being very large, and that works within what I'd like to see "Monsterland Forums" become over the next few years. Hopefully, we will add some more members next year. I have added this site's URL to over a dozen internet search engines. In 2007 look for a new banner, or two. Other "tweaks" may be made by me on occasion, but nothing major. I have browsed the list of Invisionfree discussion sites-there are a tremendous number of them that have been abandoned and also many that are practically dormant, with little or no activity. I make this pledge: this site will never fall by the way side, and, though we may be slow at times, I will always be here, working in the same manner, for those members who participate at MF, those who don't, and those checking us out. I am going to keep this post topic open for about a week. If anyone wants to post anything in response, positive or negative, please feel free to do so. All replies welcome. I would like to thank all the members who have posted, and participated here at Monsterland Forums in 2006. Thanks also to those who didn't, but registered. I am still grateful you took the time to do that. My door is always open. I am, as I have said many times, a work in progress, just like this discussion site. I look forward to talking with everyone in the coming new year. Have a safe, Happy New Year's Eve and God Bless. :) Sincerely, Lee "Packmule" Merritt :D |
