In December of 2000 Toho released the 2nd Millenium film, Godzilla Vs Megaguirus. The story: the movie starts out with a flashback to G attacking Japan in 1954, then again in 1966. Flashforward to present day, where the G-Graspers, an elite team of anti-Godzilla commandos engage the monster king, scurrying between buildings to fire their RPG's at Godzilla. The C.O. of the unit saves one of his best team members(but sacrifices himself in the process). Meanwhile, local scientists(in conjunction with G-Grasper) have developed a device, The Dimension Tide, which can create an articial black hole in which Godzilla(in theory) will be sucked right in. During a test run of the machine, a small blackhole forms, as designed, with one slight problem: it allows creatures from another dimension to enter ours. The man-sized, flying monsters, resembling dragonflies, attack and kill a few people before turning their attention to Godzilla. Ultimately these winged monstrosities collect together underwater and form into one giant monster, Megaguirus, setting the stage for the climactic battle between Godzilla and Megaguirus.
