Bullfighting remains a popular spectator sport in Spain and in Mexico, despite the many injuries sustained by matadors, and fans. In an incident in Mexico City, in January of 2006, a 1000 lb bull named Pajarito(English translation: "Little Bird"), perhaps bored and frustrated with his routine, leaped over a security fence and proceeded to gore several fans in the stands, one seriously, before a matador managed to reach the huge bull and slay the animal with a sword. Image-Bull Run: Pajarito, a half-ton bull, goes for an unwelcome stroll in the stands of a Mexico City bullfighting arena, shortly before he's killed by a matador(January, 2006). This incident, in which several people were seriously injured by the animal, led to, not surprisingly, calls for better protection of fans at these bullfighting events.
