Chapter 10: Dr. Serizawa Deep beneath the sewers of Tokyo, something deadly was about to be unleashed. The long, dark, grimy tunnel was home to rats that scurried about their short, pointless lives. The rats parted ways from a light shone by an unusual guest to the area: a beautiful young Japanese woman, gripping a flashlight and slowly making her way down the tunnel, guided by the concentrated beam of light. She looked down in disgust as the rodents sprinted past; once she was even forced to shift her foot to avoid the path of one hungry rat. “God, I hate it down here”, she said to herself, her voice surprisingly soft and kind by nature, even when masked by a tone of hatred for the venue. “Why did he have to pick the damn sewer, of all places?!” Up ahead, as she rounded the bend (an engagement ring flashing on her finger), she saw it: The steel door, completely innocuous, just another part of the sewer to the untrained eye…She approached, her hand extended, and she touched the cold metal. She stood momentarily, one hand against the flat of the door, the other gripping her flashlight, pondering her fiancé’s odd personality…why did he need such privacy? He was a brilliant man, sure, but what could he have invented that he needed to hide away from the world. He had said he was on the verge of a breakthrough… With a push, the young woman opened the door, and stepped into the relatively dry corridor leading towards her groom-too-be’s laboratory. At the end, she came to an antechamber lit by a single, small, flickering overhead light. She looked forward against the ahead wall, and saw the next door. This one was clearly better built, meant to keep people out. Very foreboding. Beyond, she could hear noise. Reaching out with the hand not holding the flashlight, she knocked on the metal, resulting in a loud clanging that split the near-silence apart. “Emiko?” said a voice from the other side of the door. “Is that you?” “It’s me, Daisuke” Emiko answered. He Fiancé, Dr. Daisuke Serizawa, opened the door. A rather dirty, pale, poorly kempt man in his mid 30’s, Dr. Serizawa’s most notable feature was his missing eye, covered by a black eye patch, pirate-style. The two kissed briefly and greeted each other, but then, Emiko became suddenly stern. “Now why did you call me down here? You said you had made an important breakthrough in your work”. “Oh, but I have! Quickly, then, come in!”. They entered the lab: A room about the size of a mansion’s dining room, full of cobwebbed machinery and dusty vials of mysterious liquids; it looked like something out of a Frankenstein movie. Dr. Serizawa walked in, looking over his shoulder as if afraid of being followed, and shut the door behind Emiko. In the corner of the room sat something that looked rather out-of-place, that Emiko was sure wasn’t here before: a large, green fish tank filled with tropical fish. “Okay” she said, brushing off the bizarre sight, “now what kind of breakthrough have you made?” Dr. Serizawa looked up at her for a moment, than said “Why, I believe I may have made some kind of weapon. Tell me, Emiko, have you ever heard of something called Micro-Oxygen?” |

Who needs Toho Kingdom anyway? I'm a member at Monsterland Forums! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it! I find the term "Zombie" to be offensive. I prefer to be called Vitality Impaired. Jerry's Frags: 17 | |
