I hate to sound like an old man but when I was a kid you could pretty much say "Merry Christmas" to anyone you passed by on the street without feeling like you're offending someone
It's similar to the controversy from this past Christmas, Dan. Recall that many malls across the United States began prohibiting the mall "Santas" from saying "ho,ho,ho!", presumably because women might be offended by such words. My question: why weren't they offended in previous decades? Why all of a sudden are these words full of potential disrespect?
Because it didn't have the same meaning in the past, perhaps.

General rule, Smythe: If something is known to everyone, around a third will inevitably spend an unnecessary amount of time intensely bashing it. For example Christianity, Islam, atheism, Christmas greetings, country leaders, Global Warming etc.

Good people just agree to disagree.

Awesome people put on funny hats. topper
