Chapter 13: The Attack

Past midnight, and the fishing boat sat, calmly, quietly. The crew slept peacefully, not aware of the approaching danger. Beneath the dark, nighttime water, the fish that had gathered around the silent ship scattered. A massive shadow, bigger than any life form ever seen by man, could barely be seen in the small amount of moonlight. The formerly calm sea rippled for a moment, before writhing and surging violently. A mound of grey scales broke through the surface, with two green eyes gazing out into the darkness.

Godzilla gazed malevolently at the ship. He didn’t know what to think of this strange, floating object. Was it a dead animal? In any case, Godzilla decided to destroy it. Ready for the attack, he roared a vicious battle cry. A few miles back where Godzilla had come, Anguirus swam silently across the surface. Then, he heard Godzilla’s roar. This was his chance! While Godzilla was distracted, Anguirus could simply swim up and drown him. It was the perfect plan, and then Anguirus would finally have his revenge. Without thinking twice, Anguirus accelerated ahead.

The fishermen on the boat had, of course, been awakened by the sound of the roar. They immediately rushed outside, searching for the source of the noise. In the darkness, many could only barely make out the titanic shape of Godzilla rising from the water. Some went back inside, frightened, other screamed, some simply sat there, paralyzed with fear. Godzilla’s hand was rising up in the ever-growing rain, before smashing down into the boat, smashing it in half. Godzilla roared again as the two, separate peaces of the boat drifted aside, away from each other. Content that his enemy was finished, Godzilla decided to continue on his path.

One of the survivors climbed, coughing and choking, onto one of the detached pieces, and looked around. He could only see a massive tail splashing into the water, then a huge shape swimming away into the distance. The rain was coming hard and fast now, and in the opposite direction, the dazed man didn’t see the mound of spikes on the surface, drifting his way. Enraged that it had lost it’s quarry again, Anguirus brought it’s head up from the sea, bellowing his loud, moaning roar. Surprised, the sailor turned to look, and screamed in terror.

His scream melded into that of Michael Lendriks, who woke up at 5:30, sweaty, screaming in terror, reeling from a strange dream of a huge, spiky creature rearing up out of the sea at him in the furious rain, howling like a demon. “I need to quit drinking before bed” he mumbled. He got up, dressed, had a scant breakfast, and quickly forgot about his disturbing dreams. As he still had a few days to enjoy a day in the life of an average tourist in Tokyo before the subject of his story appeared in the city. As he left, he passed the maid. With his great journalist skills, even though he was still somewhat tired, he noticed something odd about her. He looked back as she walked away: did she have blond highlights?

Who needs Toho Kingdom anyway? I'm a member at Monsterland Forums! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

I find the term "Zombie" to be offensive. I prefer to be called Vitality Impaired.
