Chapter 14: Coastline Decimation

Early in the morning, Mike strode along the bay-side area, enjoying the beauty of Tokyo Bay, shimmering in the rising sunlight. But something was wrong about this day. As Mike walked along the docks, he kept feeling like he was being followed, even once saying aloud “I feel like Gordon Freeman”, much to the disturbance of the surrounding crowd, who already noticed his frequent gazes over his shoulder. Even worse, was the feeling that he would never see some of this crowd again; that some form of deadly chaos was coming to doom them all. He also kept looking out into the bay, anxiously awaiting the arrival of he-didn’t-know-what. All in all, he was very anxious and tense. His paranoia seemed too come down in no small part to the frequent sightings of a young woman in the crowd with blond highlights in her hair, always seeming to be looking right at Mike himself.

Then finally, it all maxed out when, Mike suddenly stopped and looked out to the bay, sure that something terrible was about to emerge. Then…did I seriously just see that?…no, no, of course not…dude! I’m freaking serious, there it was again! He refused to believe he had just seen some huge, white spike burst over the surf, because it was impossible, ridiculous…but, there they were, other people looking out, saying things like “What was that?” and “Did you see it?”. Mike knew what he had to do then. Run. And so, Mike didn’t stop to look as other people were drawn to the strange sight out at sea; an overwhelming instinct just made him run. Out in the bay, a scaly, grey dinosaur’s head burst from the crystalline surface of the water.

Godzilla, his mouth lined with double rows of fangs, his bumpy grey scales pouring water, his bright, green eyes glistening with aggression, began to walk forward along the seafloor, drawing closer all the time. It had been a long time since he had really gotten to smash something worth smashing. This was going to be fun… Godzilla was still shoulder-deep in the water when the Japanese Self-Defense Force was contacted, with reports of “a huge, grey creature coming out of the bay”. Several pictures were sent in, all showing the same grey, spiny-backed titan. When Godzilla was only ankle-deep in water, the order was finally given: deploy forces to defend the city in case the creature becomes hostile. Godzilla finally stepped onto the first dock, breaking it into a shower of wooden splinters. Nobody was standing and watching anymore; word had spread through the city like wildfire through a horse stable, and everyone was fleeing.

Godzilla roared again as his foot sank into the concrete, cracking it and leaving a massive footprint. A car swerved to avoid the foot, but drove right over it and crashed into a nearby building, sending up a huge plume of fire. News choppers surrounded the amazing creature, glad to be getting such amazing photos, until Godzilla began swatting them down like burning flies. Now, it was time to begin. Godzilla threw his entire body forward, smashing into a skyscraper that came crumbling down around him. As he strode out of the falling wreckage and dust, he continued to wreak devastation, trampling low buildings underfoot, and simply ripping his way right into larger ones. Godzilla was unstoppable.

I find the term "Zombie" to be offensive. I prefer to be called Vitality Impaired.
