I have never been one to get into the personal life of the president and it annoys me that so many people hold that above the actual issues at hand. I don't care if Bill did mary jane and had and affair, I don't care that Bush got in trouble with cocaine, I don't care that Cheney has a lesbian daughter and I certainly don't care that Obama did drugs, McCain got a divorce and Palin's daughter has a baby. I'm sure a lot of people would say "but it's hypocritical for them and their stance". Well yeah it is, but unless you've been blind to politics for the last 100 years, politicians are screwed up in the head. It's something you have to live with and to me the actual debates and issues are much more important than the celebrity angle of politics. I don't care what happens in their personal life and I don't care what happened decades ago. And it's that that has ruined our government I believe: the political celebrity fest it is. Granted, it's sad that you probably couldn't find a single "clean" presidential candidate with a pristine history, but when you're going out into that field EVERY mistake you have made since you were born will come out. Everyone makes mistakes, I'm more concerned about what they're doing now. And this thing about her daughter is even crueler. It was her daughter's mistake, not hers. Sure she raised her but you can only do so much. I know some parents who were suburb parents, but their child still had premarital relations and had a child of their own. It'd be different if it were like Obama's drug usage or McCain's divorce but Palin didn't even do anything. I'm thinking they just can't find any other dirt on her due to the fact that she's so unknown. Edited by crow_t_robot, Sep 7 2008, 01:41 PM.
