plenty of blood, scary scenes and over the top violence(by the killer) which you would fully expect from any Wes Craven directed film.
None of that is in swamp thing or Music of the Heart.

But in all seriousness, the whole thing about mentioning other slasher films, prominently Halloween, is a good thing. Plus, the murder of Drew Berrymore at the begining is a classic example of suspence building and one of the numerous refrences to Nightmare On Elm Street, Wes's proudest creation, in the film.
