This is one of the oldest tropes regarding villains in film. They often have confident, mocking laughs. Some of these are really rather memorable. This thread is for listing your favorite "evil laughs" in film and television. 1: The best laugh in television and cinema history, I find, is performed by the Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 Wizard of Oz. Margaret Hamilton's Witch in general is according to me the best villain in history, partially because of this incredible laugh which she continues to deliver numerous times in the movie. And to add irony to this excellence, Margaret Hamilton was originally a schoolteacher... 2: Dr. Pretorius from Bride of Frankenstein, as he sits alone smoking and watching a skull, delivers a laugh I'll never forget. 3: Any laugh performed by Vincent Price can qualify here. 4: Dr. Horrible, from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. He goes through the effort of practicing with a vocal coach, and this shows in the third act as he launches one of the most brilliant laughs I've heard. 5: Riddler, from the 1966 Batman TV series, played by Frank Gorschin. There's no denying it, Frank's giggling laugh made the character memorable. |
