EPISODE XI: HURRICANE HENRIETTA STRIKES

June 14th, 2044

South of Göteborg, Sweden

Two boys were out playing in the forest. Running amongst the trees playing catch, they soon heard a loud noise.
“What’s that?” one of them said, pointing to a strange, whirling cloud.
“Is it a whirlwind?” the other said. “I’m scared… let’s go inside.”
“Okay”, the other nodded, and they ran back to the house. One of the boys’ mother ran out and quickly grabbed them, running inside again.
“Quick, get to the basement!” she shouted. “Hurry!”
As they all hid in the basement, they heard the crushing winds over them. Some time passed, and the mother dared to look up in the house again. But the house was no longer there.

“A hurricane?” Tanja said.
“Yes”, Emelie nodded. “A hurricane just appeared without warning south of Göteborg. Since there is no logical explanation, we have been called to investigate this phenomenon.”
“How big a hurricane?” Casper said.
“We are talking category 5 hurricanes”, Emelie said sharply. “They’ve concluded that it’s moving southwest, so Göteborg is safe. Skrämsby, a small society, is in grave danger and is being evacuated as we speak.”
“Oh… what the heck!?” Johan exclaimed. “It’s gonna FLATTEN the place!”
“I know”, Tanja nodded. “There hasn’t been anything like THAT in Sweden since Hurricane Greta in the 2020s.”
“So this one is what, Helen?” Peter muttered.
“Henrietta”, Emelie said. “Anyway, this is a great opportunity to try out our newly-developed equipment.”
“What is that?” Casper asked.
“Anti-Gravity generators”, Johan pushed in. “We’ve apparently had them in development since Greta struck. They’re supposed to allow top-priority flights in extreme conditions to function normally. They’ve been considering dropping the development since it’s so expensive.”
“Anyway, some of the generators were produced”, Emelie nodded. “To be used as emergency evacuations during hurricanes, for example. We’ve been authorized to outfit our G-10 All-Team Action vessel with one of them to enter the hurricane and try to find out how it appeared.”
“And with ‘We’”, Tanja smiled, “You mean…”
“Yes”, Emelie grinned. “I mean the four of you. Move out!”

Vicinity of Skrämsby, Sweden

The aircraft approached the gigantic, swirling cloud. In the aftermath of the hurricane was nothing. A few fallen trees, some planks, but almost everything was simply gone.
“Just look at that…” Tanja said, shocked, as she looked out. “It’s not even like it’s blown away… it’s as if it was all just removed.”
“I think this job really is for C.A.T”, Johan nodded. “This hurricane isn’t normal.”
“It’s like it’s sucking the materials in”, Casper muttered. “How could it do that?”
“I don’t know”, Peter said, “But I think I’ve noticed something.”
“What?” the others said in chorus.
“It’s been still in this place for a long time. It’s a bit strange.”
“Is that a problem?” Casper said. “Maybe it’s just taking a leak or something. All right, diving in. Antigravity – Activated!” A sparkling field was emitted around the vessel, and Casper steered it right into the hurricane.
“We have to get to the center of the hurricane”, Tanja noted. “It’s probably the most likely place to find out the mystery here.”
“I’m going”, Casper snapped. “Don’t forget who the field leader here is.”
“It’s easy to do that once we’re on the ground”, Johan laughed. “You’d gasp at the sound of a mouse.”
“Well, we’re not landing HERE, that’s for sure”, Peter said. “That’d be cra- what’s that?” The crew looked ahead, and saw a giant figure obscured by the dust clouds. No sooner did they notice it than a lightning bolt suddenly headed right at them! The aircraft took it head-on and started burning.
“What was that!?” Casper screamed.
“Oh shit, we’re crashing!” Tanja shouted. “Brace yourselves!”
The aircraft rapidly lost altitude, but as they passed, they could get a clear view of their attacker. It was a giant monster. It was gray and lizardlike, with blade-like fingers and a long tail. Its mouth was a big, round, toothy hole that emitted a howling sound. It had insectlike, multifaceted green eyes, and on its head were two big antennae. Its name was Fuujin. In the brief moment C.A.T passed, they could see the monster suck in debris off the ground before they crashed down nearby.

“C.A.T unit!” Emelie yelled into the microphone. “Respond! What happened?” The door to Emelie’s office opened, and Josefin, of the lower-ranked staff, entered with some coffee.
“Is there a problem, Captain?” she asked nervously.
“No contact with the team”, Emelie muttered, not touching the coffee. “Something happened.”
“Don’t worry”, Josefin smiled, “they’ll be okay. And Ultraman’s here to help, too.” She smiled and walked away.
“How’d he fight a hurricane?” Emelie mumbled as Josefin left.

Inside Fuujin’s Hurricane

“Uh… everyone okay?” Casper said, dizzy.
“We need to get out!” Johan shouted. “The ship’s on fire!” He and Tanja quickly carried Casper and Peter, both barely conscious, out of the ship, and not soon after the fire reached the fuel tank, igniting it and creating an explosion that could have killed the team.
“So it was a monster all along”, Tanja said as the team took shelter in a hole in the stone ground. “And he’s eating everything. That explains it.”
“He evaded attacks by masquerading as a natural disaster”, Johan nodded. “Quite a clever thing.”
“So what do we do?” Tanja muttered. “We were lucky enough to find shelter, but we can’t get OUT again!”
“Don’t you worry”, Casper said. “Any minute now, Ultraman will show up and save the day.” Silently, Peter muttered “Fat chance”.
A long time passed, though no one in the team could say for sure how long it was. Tanja and Casper eagerly looked out to see if Ultraman Pole would show up soon. Johan tried to catch some sleep, and Peter sat still. To the others, it looked like he was just annoyed, but in reality he was discussing with Pole.
So say we make this big explosion in the cave and disappear through the confusion?
It could kill the others, and what explanation would we have?
True that... well, how about rushing out blindly shouting I’ll save the day?
They’d think you’re nuts, for starters. And it’d still be too obvious.
Before Pole had time to add anything else to the discussion, Peter rose to his feet and made his way to the opening.
“I’ll save the day!” he shouted, and rushed out blindly into the storm, despite shouts and attempts to stop him from Casper and Tanja.
Out in the storm, Peter ran safely protected by his Ultran powers. He finally reached the beast Fuujin, who was busy sucking in debris.
“Bet you didn’t expect THIS, monster!” Peter shouted and held up the bracelet. Fuujin immediately turned around and, not wasting a second, shot a beam from one of its antennae, hitting next to Peter and knocking him down.
Seems like a good plan, doesn’t it? Pole remarked.
Fuujin directed his attention to the persistent human, who had risen again and repeatedly dodged his antenna beams. Suddenly, he was hit by a blast from behind him. Turning around, he saw a human in between some large rocks. The human fired again, and Fuujin prepared to retaliate when suddenly another blast hit him. Turning to this second place, two more humans were shooting at him.
“You keep your ugly, gluttonous mug away from our teammate!” the female shouted. Fuujin charged his antennae to kill her... when he saw a mysterious blue light. Examining it, he saw it transform into a giant, blue man.
Ok, Peter, I admit I didn’t actually think they’d rush out after you, but you just got lucky.
Shut up. Let’s do this already.
Fuujin was the first to attack. His already charged antennae fired a series of blasts at Pole, who stood with his chest puffed out, enduring the attack. He then made a taunting hand gesture and took a ready stance as Fuujin moved towards him. Kicking the monster in the chest, he then grabbed its head and tossed it down. Fuujin rose, and rammed Pole, but when it attempted to attack again, Pole grabbed its hand and tossed it down once more. Fuujin rolled away and rose yet again, but stepped away from Pole. Pole rushed after, not wanting to give Fuujin safe distance, but Fuujin was prepared. Its antennae lit up and Pole started feeling the wind blow towards him at a powerful level. Within seconds, the blue giant was swept off his feet and slammed into the ground far away. With glee, Fuujin approached Pole to attack again, but Pole recovered quickly, got up, and punched Fuujin’s face. As the monster backed, Pole followed up with a spinning back-kick, then a tackle as Fuujin spun around, sending the monster back on the ground. Fuujin rose, roared loudly in rage, but Pole grabbed his antennae, and with a great pull, tore them off his head.
“Look!” Tanja said. “The monster’s weakening!”
And she was right. Fuujin looked more and more tired and dizzy. Gradually, the heavy winds were dissipating. Pole took the advantage, crossed his arms, and fired his Polium Ray at Fuujin. The monster took the beam in the chest and exploded violently.
“He got him!” Casper cheered.
As the team regrouped, Peter emerged from some rocks.
"Where've you been?", Tanja asked.
“I chickened out."
