Jaws 2(1978), while IMO an entertaining movie has less of the gripping suspense and character development of its predecessor. Jaws(1975) is in my top five overall movies and is IMO one of the greatest films ever produced. The book, written by Peter Benchley, is outstanding. The on screen interactions between Quint, Chief Brody and Matt Hooper are among the most fascinating I have ever seen in a movie, a credit to these actors and those who wrote the movie's screenplay. Jaws 2(1978) is solid, Crow but not as good the original. Give credit to (the late) Roy Scheider for helping to make the second "Jaws" installment fairly entertaining in his reprisal of Amity Police Chief Martin Brody. On a scale of 1-10(1o being the best) I'd rate Jaws a 9.5/10 and Jaws 2 an 8/10. |
