I received my first paycheck yesterday(Friday) that had been adjusted to account for the $500 tax credit I am entitled to, courtesy of President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan, passed not too long ago by Congress. As a single, working person with no dependents I now have another $8 per week after tax. I feel...so stimulated. Now, to decide what to do with this additional money every week. Of course, the idea by our illustrious President is that these additional funds would spur spending by working American citizens receiving these funds. At an additional $8 a week I could buy two Happy Meals from MCDonalds...or a used DVD at Blockbuster. Or a matinee movie ticket at the local theater or a cheap box of condoms. All of these purchases of course, and in mass numbers, would no doubt stimulate the American economy. Thank you, President Obama, for that $8 a week. I'm going to buy a McDonalds Happy Meal every week to celebrate your stimulus plan...and all of it's applied and tangible benefits to me, the hard working American citizen and taxpayer. |
