Well I didn't read through all this thread but I'm going to give my points of view. I hadn't voted in the last election but if I did I would have voted for Obama. Why because with McCain in office it would have been another Bush incident. Bush was the worst president in history IMHO. I don't agree with the war over in Iraq because as my friend who recently got out of the military informed me that sucks up a good 600 Billion dollars, that's a big chunk of money right there a good chunk that could be used to rebuild are economy. Some things that Obama is doing I don't agree on but recently my friend and I decided to see how the economy was doing and nationally it's making a bit of a comeback but not as good as it was 8-10 years ago. In order to fix our economy it's really simple the president needs to lower our taxes. I learned about a simple principal in my Macroeconomics course called the the Tax Multiplier Effect basically if we lower taxes by say 9% and the goverment saves $0.90 out of every dollar in goverment spending then this will add $540 million back in the economy. Also there needs to be more jobs created, more jobs means more people working, people working means they aren't afraid to spend their money which in turn means the economy will make a come back. Also we need to stop outsourcing so much. Sure you can save a few pennies by doing this but this hurts America as a whole and when America hurts economical the whole world does. Here we thought war would destroy our country but greed seems to be doing the job just fine which is sad. Finally while some of you might not agree with this I believe that the US goverment should legalize Marijuana. While I don't smoke it myself I believe that if we regulate and tax it like we do Alchol and Tobacco then it should be leagalized. Plus not to mention that it'll add easily 600+ billion into our economy. Another thing I think should happen is that the United States should stop policing the world. I don't understand why we as a country have to stick our nose in other countries issues if they didn't ask us for help to begin with. Getting back on topic about Obama, is he doing a good job I think he is but then again it is to early to tell. Hopefully he can fix things the way the where before 2005 when everything started falling apart. |
