Latest DVD watched by Packmule: Octopus(2000). This film is one of a handful of "giant beast on the loose" movies written by Boaz Davidson. The film is directed by John Eyres and was produced by Trimark Pictures. None of them are really what I would call good movies but they are well paced and have a lot of action and better than average CGI effects. The monster in Octopus is, of course a gigantic octopus. There's a subplot involving the transportation of a terrorist aboard a U.S. nuclear submarine and while this provides for some mildly entertaining moments the star of this film is the monster sized octopus, which first attacks and cripples the U.S. submarine and then a cruise liner. This movie has appeared on the Sci-Fi Channel and produced a sequel a year later called "Octopus 2: River Of Fear". The trailer for Octopus(2000): |
