My criticism of the monster, like so many others, is that the beast was too much animal, and not enough monster. I also thought the overall design of Zilla made the creature too reptilian and, again, not enough monster. I can enjoy watching the 1998 film periodically, say once a year. ]

Same goes for me, even when I first saw it I described the monster as a "Giant Iguana" and that's not a positive coment, of course back when I first saw it I was too young to even care about the terrible script and so I quite enjoyed the film, but now I watch it maybe once or twice a year. For some reason I still get the feeling that the version shwon at the cinema was slightly longer than the one released later, there was a bit in which Zilla "hugs" the Empire Estate Building, I'm sure that scene used to be longer in the cinema.
'The void is that which stands right in the middle between this and that. The void is all-inclusive, having no opposite — there is nothing which it excludes or opposes. It is living void, because all forms come out of it and whoever realizes the void is filled with life and power and the love of all things' - Bruce Lee
