I have always thought Godzilla Tokyo SOS(2003) was too similar too its predecessor film, Godzilla X Mechagodzilla(2002), one reason why the 2003 movie is only modestly entertaining to me. I liked seeing Chujo(played by Hiroshi Koizumi) again, as he reprised his character from Mothra(1961) and seeing, just once, Millenium Godzilla battle it out with Mothra. By the time this movie came out I was, Trent, kind of "burned out" in seeing Godzilla fight Mothra again, more than anything. As for films "losing their luster", most of the Heisei "G" films have lost much of theirs for me. I still watch The Return Of Godzilla(1984), Godzilla Vs Biollante(1989), & Godzilla vs King Ghidorah(1991) every now and then. The rest of the Heisei Godzilla movies I seldom watch anymore, especially Godzilla Vs Spacegodzilla(1994), IMO the nadir of the Heisei G series of movies. I can still enjoy all the Showa G films, no problem. For me: Showa G films>Millennium G films>Heisei G films |
