I didn't notice a topic for this so I figured I'd create a new one. Sorry in advance but this is going to be a long read. Oh and Lee if there is a thread like this can you merge my post in that thread? I finally started getting serious about dieting and excercise again and let me explain below. Last month March 6th to be exact after having a long weekend and poor diet habits during the weekend I woke up that Monday a few times and it felt like I had been kicked in the ribs. I didn't think anything of it and then later that day at work I started having severe pain on my right side just above my ribs. This was probably one of the worst pains I felt other than last year when I had injured my back. Well I was going to go into the doctor's office that night because we have a couple of the cheap medical places around my work but I decided to stick it out. I noticed the pain got a lot worse after drinking a soda, so for lunch that day I just had a water to and relaxed in my breakroom sure enough the pain went away. The next day there was some minor discomfort so again I thought I was out of the clear, well I was wrong a hour before my shift ended the same pain kicked back up and lasted a couple of hours. Then then twice on Wednesday it flaired up and finally again on Thursday morning. So that evening on my lunch break I went into the cheap doctor's office around the corner and he thought it was my gallbladder so he ordered blood work and an ultrasound being Thursday night at around 7pm I couldn't get either done. So the next day I made my appointment for the ultrasound which I thought the receptionist I spoke to said it'd be March 15th but it was a week later. So after doing the blood work and ultrasound I waited a couple of days to get the results come to find out it was my liver causing the issue. I have what they call a fatty liver which can be caused by being overweight or drinking a lot well since I don't drink a lot the answer had to be being over weight. Last Monday I went to my normal physician for my annual physical and discussed the results with her. She suggested I get a calore tracking app on my phone and start doing excercise for at least five minutes a day and also ordered an additional blood test to test for severe liver damage and hepatitis which can cause that. After nearly getting up to my heavist again (as of last week I'm 307, my heavist was 320) I figured it's time to take this as a wake up call. I haven't had soda since the day I first expierenced the pain and this past week I've been watching what I've been eating and doing the excercise thing. I haven't weighed my self recently but I do feel like I'm losing weight as my cloths feel losser and my vest at work is losser as well. I've been keeping track of my excercise and calores in the MyFitnessPal app and my goal is about 4-5lbs a week sadly you can only have 2lbs a week selected in that app and they suggested with that I should eat 2800 calores which I think is way to much so I figured I'd do 2000 calores a day. I've been sticking too for the most part there's a few days I went over but because of the excercise I've done I've ended up with extra calores for the day. I have a follow up appointment in July with my physician so we'll see what she says then. My goal is to get down to about 260-255 then join the gym to start building muscle and toning up and ultimately I'd like to get down to about 220 or maybe 230 for a toned body. |

One month in and I lost 16 lbs. I was hoping for 20+ but 16 lbs is still a great achivement. This month I'm shooting for at least 16 lbs. That first week was pretty easy I dropped 7lbs then the middle of the month I'd flux between gaining a few pounds and losing it. |
