Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Lee do you guys get major grub problems down there?
Not much, at least in my experience. I know boxwoods(a type of shrub in varieties including American, English and Korean) are periodically susceptible to a type of grub that feeds on the boxwoods' roots.

What I see mostly, as turf issues go are areas of a client's turf that are discolored and/or dying due to fungal or bacterial issues and also due to drought conditions. winky

Thats interesting I wonder if due to you guys having more species of lizards and snakes down there that eat that kind of thing is the reason why you don't have those issues?

Up here we only have one species of lizard; the five lined skink aka the blue tailed skink. As for snakes the only species I know of that would eat them would be the garter snake. Maybe our smooth green snakes do but I'm not entirely sure.

My psychology teacher persuaded me to take his Abnormal Psychology class in the fall. In this PSY course we will discuss "normal" abnormal psychology like mental disorders/mental challenged peoples as well as the serial killers, serial rapists, and psychopaths. What makes it better my teacher is a retired criminal psychologist who has worked with these issues before. It shall be fun! Mr. Green

Texas is full of Geckos....I guess they eat bugs but they are everywhere and are quite annoying. They get in my house, I sometimes accidentally smash them in my door frame, and they scare the crap out of me if I don't realize they are there and suddenly scamper quickly.

It's possible. I see small garter snakes with regularity in the warmer months as well as "blue racers", those black and blue shiny lizards(or salamanders ?). I also see a lot of argiopes aka "orb weaver" spiders, those large black and yellow colored spiders that tend to build their webs in between and on top of shrubbery.

I've seen baby and adolescent copperheads(snakes) here and there. Thankfully I haven't encountered a fully grown copperhead(yet).

I find it odd you have a species of lizard called a "blue racer" up here a blue racer is a snake that grows up to 4 ft long when I was about six or so my uncle who is a taxidermist found a deceased one and tanned the skin for me and at that time the snake was as long as me. freak out

Josh your state too has a diverse lizard population than michigan. I wish we had some geckos I've never seen any in the wild before.

I was in error in using the term "blue racer" to describe the small lizards I commonly see outside while working. They are actually skinks, the variable skink specifically: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plestiodon

The ones I see often have blue tails. An Australian species of skink is nicknamed the "blue tailed racer".

Those are the ones we have up here our only lizard specie in Michigan.

So, while walking home this afternoon (I live near a middle school & it was noon) this 12 year old (or so) kid asked me if I had a cigarette (Shouldn't this kid be in school anyways!?). Even if I had some or smoked them I wouldn't give a kid a cigarette . . . What a shame when little kids of that age are smoking and asking random strangers for cigarettes. This is sadly not the first time I have been asked that in the last few months. I find it hard to believe that middle school-ers have such an easy access to cigarettes at a young age and that they would be addicted to them. I could understand high school-ers asking for a cigarette, but not 12 year old kids. Nono

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico

But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
for me
for me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me

Anyway the wind blows...

So I had a job interview yesterday. It's at a plumbing company for a warehouse manager position; a friend of mine who works there got me in for an interview. Something I don't feel even remotely qualified for. The job description was very intimidating. A lot of responsibilities, and lots of workers depending on me.

Having said that, though, it was one of the best interviews I've had in years. These guys sounded like they actually wanted me to come and work, and not like they were doing it because they had to. Most of the reviews I've been to over the last few years felt like they were just weeding out the trash, which is pretty much true; that's their jobs, but you know what I mean. It didn't feel like a "let's get this over with" interview. They promised training, and basically told me that somebody will always be around to back me up. It sounds like a really good job. It's a stable company (they've been around for over twenty years); there are people there who've been there since they started, so it sounds like job security isn't a major issue.

In short, while I'm a little scared, I'm also kind of excited and hopeful; it sounds like something I could make a career out of. It isn't the path I envisioned myself taking, but how often do you get to do exactly what you want in today's society? In my situation I need what's available right now, and I can't afford to turn stuff down. Hopefully something good comes out of this.

I do believe I found the source of my sickness the past several months allergies. I got sick yet again on Sunday I've been taking Allergy medicine and it's going away pretty quickly.

Maybe I need to make an appointment to get tested on what I'm allergic to?
