Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

They say a picture is often worth a thousand words. So, there is a very serious chance of possibly loosing my home in the next 6 months.

If only someone would give me a job. Just look up the job applications in their computer and choose me for a job.

If only the government would stop their shit and give my mother the S.S. she needs.

County and federal taxes are killing us. Killing us. KIlling me. My brother. My mother. My pets. I don't expect to have shit handed to me, but at the same time, how am I supposed to support an alright life if no one is willing to give me the chance to earn a pay check?

Don't expect to be "given" anything. You'll have to go out there, sell yourself and get someone to select you. winky

Evan, you can't rely on someone hiring you solely based on your job application. Getting hired is based on both the application and a personal meeting with the person doing the hiring.

What "shit" are you referring to? Why specifically is your mother not receiving these benefits? If you don't want to answer in this topic send me a reply in a PM.

I understand your frustration but at the same time I would respectfully remind you that a lot of other people are having it tough as well, either due to unemployment, underemployment, a medical issue or a combination of these things.

I want you to do two things this week:

1. create a resume for yourself and print out copies of it if you can.

2. create an "action plan" for yourself regarding your job search. You can use notebook paper or a note pad.

Last Thursday I thought I experienced the moments before a tornado hits. A storm with 60 + mph winds ripped through my part of town; power lines and trees were down all over the neighborhood, and my neighborhood itself was nearly impassible. I'd never seen anything like this before, and I was quite scared, especially when the really big limbs from the tree in my yard started hitting my house (after I heard the first one I went to the window, then came the rest, right in front of me eek! ).

We lost power for approximately two, maybe two-and-a-half days, which was a lot sooner than I expected, given the amount of damage I witnessed in the parts of my neighborhood I could actually get to. Lots of people had it worse than I did (I need new gutters, vinyl siding and a four-foot crack in my roof patched). A neighbor a couple of houses down from me had an exceptionally large one down in his front yard; you could not even see the front of the house; I'm not sure of the extent of damage done to that house. The golf course we live next to was, and still is, a wreck; though they have cleaned it enough to allow play (we can't have golfers going without golf, now can we????).

Actually, not having power and such was kind of interesting; sure, it stunk not having power, but in that short period of time you really find out how resilient you are capable of being. Me and my sister sat on the porch and talked for half the night, and I read comic books by candlelight and had a great time (considering the circumstances); in other words, it took me all of about a few hours to accept that it was going to be different for a little while (and there's nothing on TV when I like to watch anyway; it all comes on late or early). The only thing I was really concerned about was the fridge; insurance will pay for the house, but when you have minimal income, it's hard to keep food in the house. But my Dad brought over a spare generator that we used for that, and charging phones and stuff.

Just thought I'd share how crazy the last half of last week was. We were lucky not to have gotten hurt (don't stand in front of a freaking window like a moron if you think there's a tornado, like me), as was everybody else in our immediate area. Thanks to my Dad and some nice neighbors the yard is clean and it looks like a house again (except for the dorky-looking tarp nailed to the roof), and things are back to normal, if you can apply that word to myself. Just one more item on my "crazy sh*t that's happened to me" list.

I hate having an anxiety disorder; for those of you who don't know what that is for me little things are big deals as well as I'm constantly anxious. I was diagnosed with it back in 2004 but suffered from it for much longer the earlist I can remember having it was back in 1993 when I was in 5th grade.

At it's worst it's like having severe depression, I'll wake up, go straight into the bathroom and vomit, I'll have panic attacks, get light headed and dizzy. Now I haven't had anything this major since 2004 but recently things have been getting pretty bad.

Everything in my life is coming to ahead right now; I applied for a manager position at work so I'm trying to decide if I want that or not, there's a girl I'm really interested but I don't know if she feels the same way, finally my grandparents are both in serious trouble right now, my grandmother went into the hospital Saturday night with menigitis which she's supposed to be making a full recovery from and my grandfather found out that same day that he has calcium build up behind his eyes and if it gets into his corrated<sp> artery then he can pass away. He's supposed to get something done on Friday.

If things don't improve soon I'm going to make an appointment with a doctor and get back on my anxiety pills which I should be on but I really haven't had to use them in the past 9 years.

If you get that management position, accept it and start working as a manager you may have no choice but to start retaking those pills, Tom: you and I both know that management jobs come with not only added compensation but also added responsibilities...and of course added stress. loco2

Respectfully, I think you're better off right now not working a management job. You're still young enough that you can try again for a management position at some point in the future. Mr. Smiles

So my anxiety has been subsiding the past few days I still have minor bouts of it hopefully with my vacation coming up I get it under control. Going to try making a doctor's appointment very soon. I really want to get test for allergies too because I've been sick more times in the past 8 months then I have in my entire life and I have a strong feeling allergies are to blame.

Either that or I haven't had this much stress in my life in five years.

Either that or I haven't had this much stress in my life in five years
Tom, I'll be the first to admit that for the longest time I believed the physical effects of stress on one's body were marginal, even something simply created out of a person's imagination. No longer and not for many years.

I've done some online "research" on stress and its effects on a person and those effects are generally adverse...and can be potentially life threatening.

I attribute stress to my smoking which I started back in 1985(at the age of 23) and I didn't finally quit tobacco(all tobacco including cigarettes and smokeless) until November, 1999. For fourteen years I was an on and off again(mostly on) smoker and "dipper"(smokeless tobacco out of a can). My tobacco use contributed greatly to my dental problems which I finally addressed beginning last summer which included the removal of six(6) teeth(including my two front teeth), multiple cleanings, multiple fillings and being fitted for a denture "partial"(for my two front teeth), the partial worn daily so I don't look like a toothless hillbilly in public. I've paid dearly for my dental issues(over $2500 since last June) which were all my own making. loco2

There have been times when I've gotten angry and feel, for a moment anyway, like my head and chest are about to explode. Believe it. For this reason I work to control my temper which has a direct effect on my stress level. The alternative is to ignore stress and if I do that, and at my age now, I might have a heart attack.

Exercise is IMO a good way to alleviate stress, Tom and it sounds like you are back on track in that regard in your exercise and weight loss. Diet also plays a role. For me I've found that keeping a log, a "diary" of sorts helps as well: I jot down goals I want to achieve during each year(and each month) and often mentally review issues I know I need to do better at.

Keep up your exercise regimen to lose some lbs, start documenting thoughts on things and make some short goals for yourself. I think doing all these things will help you. winky

Well I made attempts to get a new doctor however the place I went to which is about two minutes away isn't going to be accepting new patients till September and that's just the nurse aid, the doctor in the building won't be seeing new patients till December. I can't wait that long especially since I had a bad anxiety attack today.

I was talking to a coworker today and non of the doctors in my town are accepting new patients right now.
