Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

It's gonna be in the mid-40's this weekend and up to the 50's this week! I love the Spring thaw.

question: will it last? I ask because, typically, every year around the vernal euqinox, March 21, which is of course the first official day of Spring, we get hammered down here in Atlanta, GA with cold weather, akin to what we normally have in early January. freak out

It's really hard to predict Michigan weather. We'll probably get one last snowfall. It could come as late as April around here. Winter's last gasp.

Winter's last gasp.
And it can sure be a ***** sometimes. freak out Reason for saying that: Atlanta's worst snowstorm in the last century took place in March of 1993-we got up to six inches of snow in some places, and right before the advent of Spring. shocked smiley

Pardon my ignorance here but what does this procedure entail?

Here's the best info I found on this procedure. I had it done back in '98 and my procedure was done in the arm....Mom and most everyone else I have known has had the procedure done through the groin.

What is cardiac catheterization?

This is a procedure done on the heart. In it, a doctor inserts a thin plastic tube (catheter) (KATH'eh-ter) into an artery or vein in the arm or leg. From there it can be advanced into the chambers of the heart or into the coronary arteries.

This test can measure blood pressure within the heart and how much oxygen is in the blood. It's also used to get information about the pumping ability of the heart muscle. Catheters are also used to inject dye into the coronary arteries. This is called coronary angiography (an"je-OG'rah-fe) or coronary arteriography (ar-te"re-OG'rah-fe). Catheters with a balloon on the tip are used in the procedure called percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (per"ku-TA'ne-us tranz-LU'min-al KOR'o-nair-e AN'je-o-plas-te) (PTCA). Catheterization is also done on infants and children to examine or treat congenital (kon-JEN'ih-tal) heart defects.

The year I was a senior in high school, we went the entire winter without a major snow storm, but in April of that year, we got hit with about 2 feet of snow! My senior class had already ordered graduation announcements and of course, because of that one missed day of school, we had to push graduation ceremonies back one day, so a little sheet of paper had to be included with the announcement with the correct date.

I personally can't wait until the summer.

I despise the winter and cold, mostly because I suffer from SAD.

Im just happy were getting in the upper 50s here in Indiana on Monday and Tuesday :D

By "SAD" you are referring to Seasonal Affective Disorder, aka "Winter depression"? eyebrow

You know, it may very well enjoy a long life, if we aren't careful.

I thought about trying to keep the "Happy Birthday Ro-Dan" thread going all year, but trying to keep yours going is proving to be all I can handle. tongue-1

My DST hasn't started off so well....I've been up since 2:30AM DST and hating the world for it. My head, hips and shoulders have been throbbing all night and sleep was nearly impossible. thumbs down I got a few hours, but now I've been up for about 3 hours and there is absolutely NOTHING on TV, very late at night or very early in the morning. I can't call anyone and chat, because most people are stacking some serious Z's, so here I sit at the computer. freak out

You know, I'm not really sure. I heard at one time, most women had the procedure done in the arm and men in the groin, but as mentioned, Mom has had all her procedures in the groin and I asked her why, yesterday and she said they told her, it's more likely to heal faster in that area and is easier to do.

Great photo and probably a good idea of how I look when I get in that frame of mind.

There was a video posted on the internet(YouTube, etc) about Paharito(Spanish for "little bird" or "little birdy"), an enormous, half ton bull that actually managed to jump over the security wall inside the Mexican bullfighting arena where it was about to square off vs a matador. This 1000 lb bull, in the ensuing chaos, managed to gore and seriously injure about a half-dozen people during it's rampage in the stands, before the same matador, reaching this angry bull in the stands, managed to mortally stab it with a sword. Watching this video I am reminded of my own urges against those that have slammed my opinions at various boards on the web. It also reminds me of several trips to Best Buy, and my general behavior in their DVD section, when their racks are fully stocked and there are lots of people browsing them, all potential rivals for what I may want! maniac

Image-Bull in a china shop: actually, it's Paharito, a half ton bull, in the stands at a Mexican bullfighting arena, back in January of 2006. Perhaps he was bored, or just wanting to take out his frustrations on those watching him from the stands. Briefly, he succeeded, before being killed by a matador.

The link about this story: A load of bull

I have a small scar from my procedure that time and I think mine healed nicely. The scar is just about 1" and I think that's about the size of Mom's scar. I'll have to ask her, but I would imagine they keep opening up that same inscision...wonder if eventually that won't cause quite a scar, though. eh?
