Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

I admit, I've suffered with those same thoughts through the years from time to time, but never too seriously
But if they ever did seem serious then you'd want to do what I suggested to Ghost, as well. See, ...nag nag. :)

Not yet, I'll get the results between somewhere around the school year or in the summer, just crossing my fingers I guess.

Two questions come to mind, Corey:

1. You feel confident you passed? eyebrow

2. Have you taken this test before, that is, for a previous grade level?

I'm just full of questions, aren't I? tongue-1

I'm sure I passed, its hard to flunk out, but how WELL I passed is the question.

I'm sure I did well, grade testing is usually pretty easy for me, and I didn't have much trouble.

why we wait, Kimi, until about mid/late April to change out our client's flowers: if we install spring/summer "color" too soon and it get's zapped by a late frost our customers expect us to replace the wilted flowers...free of charge.

Ouch. freak out That could end up being mighty expensive....don't balme you guys at all for waiting on that.

Our storm total ended up being between 6-8 inches, as we received a couple more on Saturday evening/night. shocking

I'd like to post an update here and confirm that "Planet X" has been off-line, again, since this past Saturday afternoon, 3-17. I'm not sure why. I'm not going to speculate on the reason for the site being inaccessible right now, but I sure hope Dan or someone can shed some light on this, cause I'm totally in the dark.

Respectfully,

Is it important, Corey, to really blow this test out of the water and pass it easily, as opposed to barely passing it?

Many years ago my boss told me the company once lost about $2000 in flowers because of a freak, and lingering, late frost in late April, that wiped out dozens of flower beds among our client's properties. freak out

As much as I believe raising a stink was justified here, Kimi, I still believe it probably would have been counterproductive to the overall situation. confused

That's a lot of money to lose! Not many family-owned businesses could live with a loss like that, so don't blame the business for taking it slow about planting.

I don't file, since I'm receiving SS disability and don't make enough. Back in the day, when I was still working, I'd get my returns sent out, ASAP and sit by the mailbox awaiting my refund. I never understood it, though, most of my co-workers that were filing single, like myself, always seemed to get HUGE refunds, compared to mine. :( How about you, have you filed and do you do your return, online? Carol filed hers online, this year, I think she did it around the 19-24 and her refund came in the mail, yesterday. thumbs up

I actually had a client today ask me when she should change out her flowers. I told her to wait until mid April or the third week in April, in order to avoid any late freezes. It was on television last night, Kimi-the weather forecaster stated that the average date of the last freeze in Atlanta is around March 20th. thumbs up

How about you, have you filed and do you do your return, online?
I mailed my return this year. I mailed it in about three weeks ago. I use 1040EZ forms as no one else can claim me as a dependent, and I'm single, and have no dependents. I usually get back, from year to year, anywhere from $250-$350. This year's refund: $336.

I have filed online before but this year, and for some reason, every site I wanted to do this at wanted some sort of fee. thumbs down 2

I've never looked at the list of members....how many members are registered, Lee?

Forty one(41). Only a handful are active, or semi-active: you, me, Corey("King Joe"), Dan("Ro-Dan"), and Jonathan("Johnny Rod"). I get one "spambot" registration here at MF about every other week, or on average twice a month. I delete them after looking them over in admin cp. I consider these things, which are generated by computer programs, as a direct threat to the security of this site. I installed a "botcatch" modification( a code) to the "board wrappers" of this site, but it isn't catching all of them. One of the primary reasons, Kimi, why I believe it may be a challenge to attract more members here is because, IMO, controversy and animated topic threads, by that I mean those with lots of name-calling and derogatory, colorfully worded exchanges, seem to attract the interest of more people than a place like this, where common courtesy and respect for other people's opinions is the standard. It's my opinion-I could be wrong but I don't think I am. confused

That's quite a shock. Completely unexpected and very disappointing. A little notice would've been nice. Looks like Monsterland is my new home from now on. Just wish I had a chance to transfer some of my threads from that site to this one. All the research and info I collected on the upcoming Star Wars TV shows and The Dark Knight were posted in those threads. :(

Oh well...to the future!

Note: I have removed the "Planet X" link from the MF mainpage nav bar and I have also posted a brief message about "PX" closing on the main page of my domain, Monsterland, directing anyone with questions or comments to email me.

You know, that fact actually surprises me...being from the northeast, I wrongly assume that Georgia would see few days of freezing temps, so that's very interesting.

I always used the EZ Form, as well. I think your average was usually about my average. Back in 2000, I received a erfund in the thousands, but only because I had been considered disabled as of March 1999 and paid taxes that year, so that was pleasant. Mr Green

I received this email from the owner of "It Came from Planet X" just awhile ago:

"I just saw your message at ML and I think a few things need to be cleared up. First, we never closed down PX. It's a issue with our domain that we have no control over. I'm not the kind of person who would just shut it down without saying goodbye. Last time I was going to go online I was heading there to say goodbye and that I was moving on. Not to shut the site down. It's paid for the year after all...

Second, Today Mark has decided to take over the place and he is going to change it into a screen-cap forum whenever we can get the site working again. It's taking time because both of us are very busy and it's not our major priority but we emailed the domain company and hopefully it will be cleared up."

This should clarify things. thumbs up

One of my two best friends, a single dad now residing in Dover, Delaware, pays considerably less in tax because of his daughter(being a dependent). Example: back in 1999 he worked for a landscaping company earning a salry of $26,500/year. At the same I was working for a landscaping company earning $29,000/year, yet he made about $100 more a month than I did, after tax.

I have absolutely no problem with parents, or single moms and dads, paying less tax, Kimi. My problem is that I believe single individuals with no dependents still pay far too much tax, and especially the working class, who cannot afford to hire an expensive accountant to find tax loopholes. thumbs down 2

That's what I enjoy about this site.  I lurk at several message boards, but the constant put-downs and snide remarks put me off from being a regular poster.

I posted this link in the "Spam" thread, but here it is again: Online anonymity

This article, IMO, absolutely confirms what I have observed from my first day on the internet: there is a general decline of courtesy, common and/otherwise, on the web. It's not just limited to youngsters, although it's this kind of behavior from young people that I seem to see the most. My only mistake was allowing myself to get caught up in it, and engaging in verbal battles with some of these kids-as I said before a mistake I will not repeat. August Ragone once said, in a post at "Planet X", that he talks people to people on the internet the same way he would address someone in real life, with courtesy and respect. I just wish everyone did this. Now, if I see stuff like this at a website, I just never go back. Example: after posting my "intro" post at CHUD.com, I was called a "faggot" by another member. I PM'd this member with a remark concerning his unsolicited insult, them PM'd the moderator of that particular forum, and the admin. I never heard back form the moderator or admin, but the guy who'd insulted me posted a few more posts suggesting I was a "cry baby" and couldn't take a joke. A joke? Did I miss something here? Is that the latest method for getting a laugh on the internet? By calling someone a "faggot?" Not to me it isn't. I never threatened this guy, I never used profanity: I simply asked him why he would insult me after my first post at this website, where I did nothing more than what the thread topic asked: post some general info about yourself. I got a PM back from him that I should top "whining" and get a sense of humor. Before leaving that site I sent this guy one last PM, in which I suggested he should exercise more caution in who he insults, and that his unsolicited insults(and there were others from him directed at others at this board) might result in an extreme reaction from someone. It happens Kimi. "MySpace" has been dealing with these security and safety issues regarding their members for several years now. That was my first, and only visit to CHUD.com-the entire site is nothing but SPAM, name-calling, put downs of others, or other frivolous crap. thumbs down

Let me add, Kimi, that as long as Dan and I are in charge of this site, there will never be any flaming, insults, or trolling(deliberately baiting others into a confrontation). Dan and I are in complete agreement that this site will have none of that. We'll have, I anticipate, as this site gets larger in the coming years, our fair share of disagreements, and things may get a little testy from time to time. We are all human, after all. This site will not be run as a police state-everyone will be given the benefit of the doubt where flareups occur. The thing is, we want them to be nothing more than flare ups, and not out of control situations. Flare ups are all you're ever likely to see here Kimi. Nothing more. busy bee
