You tend to write long passages without breaking them into more readable paragraphs. I was really just busting your chops.

I have absolutely no problem with parents, or single moms and dads, paying less tax, Kimi. My problem is that I believe single individuals with no dependents still pay far too much tax, and especially the working class, who cannot afford to hire an expensive accountant to find tax loopholes.

I hear you and agree, in spite of no longer paying taxes. I remember what might have been the first episode of, The Cosby Show and Cliff (Cosby) was trying to explain to his son that being a 'regular' person wasn't all it was cracked up to be. He gave Theo some Monopoly money and took several hundred $ right away and said, 'The goverment always comes for the regular people, first!'. I thought that statement was well put.

The weather down here in Atlanta, GA continues to be unseasonably warm, even balmy. I wore a t-shirt for the better part of the week. I cannot remember when it was this warm in March in Atlanta. eyebrow

Predictably, it has cooled down here in Atlanta, reaching, for the last week, only the low 60's during the day, and dipping into the upper 40's at night. It always does this following a warm winter here-the temps dip for a while in April. By the end of this month and into early May temps will become warmer, and we can say goodbye to any more cold snaps. Posted Image

No doubt, as Mom landed back in that hospital a couple more times following the mess up.

thumbs down

Speaking of medical issues I had my annual physical this past Friday, 3/30. The doctor said I am in better-than-average physical shape than most men my age. He also said I could stand to lose 20-25 pounds-it will lower my blood pressure and also reduce the stress on my knees. It may, or may not, help with my gout as well. I'm 205 right now-he wants me at 180-185 by this time next year. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

I know I always spell check before I post and often wonder, how I still miss a word from time to time. I think my eyes actually read it how I meant to spell it, so I still will miss the occasional word. tongue-1

We are seeing warmer days, here, I love this first days of Spring, when the days are warm, but still a cool breeze and the nights still chill down, nicely. If we could have weather like this year round, I'd be happy. :)

I sometimes will even twist words when I'm saying them.....instances where I've embarrassed myself:

Meant to say: Poke the holes
Said: Hoke the poles

Meant to say: Hat hog
Said: Hot hag

Meant to say: Key-chain
Said: Che-kain

thumbs up Not having much weight to lose, do you think it may be tough to get off or easier? I know I often hear people say, if you have a lot to lose, the intiial weight can come off quite fast, but 20-25 pounds isn't a lot, you know?

I haven't had too many instances where this happened to me, with one notable exception: when I was on a second date with a woman I would end up in a two year relationship with(back in 1989), we were having dinner in her apartment, instead of going out, as she had made dinner for me. After dinner we decided to watch TV(among other things tongue-1 )-the chair I sat in broke-one of the chair legs cracked. I told my dinner date I would be fine sitting on the floor. The problem: I actually said "sh*tting on the floor". freak out Needless to say I was sufficiently embarassed, and had to think fast on what to say to explain to her why this would possibly come out of mouth at that moment. I mumbled something about being around guys that swore all the time at work, which was true actually. She bought my explanation. Of course I did not mention the fact that one of those "guys" at work that swore all the time also included myself. tongue-1

I have read in the newspaper and in health magazines that being exposed to rapid temperature variations outside can weaken a person's immune system. This what you're referring to? eyebrow

Not having much weight to lose, do you think it may be tough to get off or easier?
It will be harder to lose the weight Kimi. The reasons: my metabolism has slowed as I have aged. Also, since I cannot run anymore, and since I am not keen on using a public swimming pool(too many tykes potentially using it as a urinal) my only exercise of recourse is walking, which takes more time to burn the calories, as opposed to running or jogging. I have 12 months to comply with my doctor's instructions. I can do it by the end of this year, which is nine months.
"KaijuFanatic"

but 20-25 pounds isn't a lot, you know?
I know it doesn't seem like a lot Kimi, but try this: the next time you're at a grocery store, pick up a 25 lb of dog food. it'll strain you more than you think. I have devised a plan on which to lose the weight:

-no more pizza, soft drinks, sweets, ice cream. Period.
-continue to drink plenty of water
-get 7-8 hours of sleep a night
-walking, including "speed" or accelerated walking, especially walking on uphill grades
-pushups(no situps) and some light crunches
-use of hand weights along with calisthenics(pushups and walking up/down stairs)
-no fried foods of any kind
-continue to drink a quart of cherry, cranberry or related juice per day

The two biggest things I have to factor in now, that I didn't when I was a lot younger: the arthritis in my knees and feet, my general overall decline(due to being older) in cardiovasular fitness, and the tendinitis I get in my right knee every now and then. As long as I'm careful and don't overdo it, I'll be okay.

My boss has offered to give me an unused, working treadmill he has in his basement, also. The formula for weight loss remains the same: eat less, eat smart, and exercise more. It is generally accepted that men my age can lose 30 lbs in as little as seven months by walking and eating smarter. thumbs up

:<!--emo&lol:-->Posted Image<!--endemo--> That was some pretty quick thinking on your part, though!

I think I come by my word-twisting quite naturally, though, my paternal Grandmother was famous for that, too. She actually twisted two words that the family still uses, today....one morning, it was kind of hazy and foggy and Grandma said it was fazy out.....we still say that one. Mr Green

Yes, it certainly seems to be holding true, in these parts. Tons of folks have pneumonia or bronchitis or the flu, here.

Good luck to you and I have no doubt, you'll reach your weight loss goal. I think another big factor is when someone is really ready to lose weight or to do anything to live healthier....stop smoking or drinking, etc. The main thing is, a person has to really want to make the change and I think when that choice is made, obtaining the goal is a bit easier.

I don't smoke, but several members of my family have, in the past and they all for one reason or another, quit, but it was only when they really became serious about quitting, did they quit and they said it was easier than they thought.

If it's any consolation Corey the temps down here in Atlanta, GA nosedived as well-balmy weather we had been enjoying for the last 6-7 weeks ended abruptly this AM with the temperature around 37 degrees. freak out The high today was about 56 degrees. Tomorrow mornings temp: 35 degrees, and Saturday morning's temp here in the ATL: 31 degrees. freak out I sure wish I could figure out why the hell we go through this down here seemingly every year: unseasonably warm weather for much of Feb/Mar and then it turns frigid in April. thumbs down

My father had a habit of mispronouncing words from time to time: his more commonly mispronounced words: "copaseptic", instead of copacetic. Another one: "verbottom", instead of verbatim. lol

I smoked, on and off, for fourteen years, from 1985 until November, 1999, when I quit "cold Turkey". I have not smoked since, or used any other kind of tobacco(e.g. snuff or chew tobacco) since. Smoking was, without a doubt, the worst thing I ever willingly did to myself. My addiction to cigarettes was strong. I "quit" many times, only to restart. In retrospect I should have never started, though as they say, hindsight is 20/20. According to my doctor, the effects on my lungs from my smoking are generally marginal-he has stated that they probably contributed to my diminished lung capacity, along with my age, but there appears to be, at this time, no long-term damage to my lungs. The doc says lungs can heal much of the damage from cigarettes if the user quits before it's too late.

While we were in Florida, PA got hit with some snow....anywhere from 5-iches to a foot. I talked to Mom this past Sunday, as it was starting and then Monday and she said by then, it was already beginning to melt. We arrived home, last evening to absolutely no snow, but chilly temps.
