Maybe Napster can ask his dad to buy him a new one. Any idea why his PC went bad? Was it old?

Some things I believe we'll see in 2012:

1. an independent expeditionary team sanctioned by The Discovery Channel will claim to have captured a live "sasquatch" only to have their claim debunked after a YouTube video goes viral on the web, the video showing actor/comedian Robin Williams, naked, bearded and caged, admitting that he agreed to participate in the hoax because he needed the paycheck.

2. Evan "G2KMaster" Brehany will, after buying Criterions' DVD release of "Godzilla", post an analysis here at KG where the words "too bad" are used approximately six(6) times

3. a video of a drunken mule will hit YouTube and generate approximately 3,125,000 comments. The video will result in the arrest of the animals' owner who, after being arrested by authorities admits to the police that he forced the mule to consume homemade corn whiskey

4. "Bozo The Clown" will appear as a write in candidate on approximately four million ballots in the November general elections in the United States, appearing beside the box on the ballots marked "President Of The United States"

5. People throughout the United States will begin "Tebowing" during protestant church services, an imitation of the kneeling actions of Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow during Broncos games

6. a Burger King commercial will become an instant hit on the internet, the commercial featuring Burger King consuming a 2000 calorie Hardees "monster" burger", then immediately going into cardiac arrest and being attended to by paramedics

7. former NBA star and TNT basketball analyst Charles Barkley, who has currently lost 25 lbs on the Weight Watchers diet, will challenge Godzilla to another game of one on one...and be owned by the monster, Godzilla dunking on Barkley as he body checks the former NBA player into a ten story tall building

8. the film studio The Asylum, which produces low budget rip offs that often appear on SyFy, will produce a movie featuring a giant, fire breathing turtle entitled "Tortoise Interruptus"

9. actor Charlie Sheen will start up a porta potty business called Shit Happens. His business will offer to ship an overused, unserviced porta potty to anyone's front yard. His company will become a financial success with hundreds of stinking, unserviced and unsanitary porta johns being delivered to U.S. senators and congressman throughout Washington and other areas. Sheen's business will also begin offering t-shirts and hooded sweat tops with images of cattle excrement and the company logo on them

10. House minority leader and speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi(D), perhaps President Barack Obamas' biggest fan, will submit a new bill to make Obama's birthday a national holiday...and requiring all Americans to display an image of the current president on their mailbox or front door or risk being fined by the IRS for non-compliance

11. singer Justin Bieber will have his microphone snatched out of his hands by rapper/entertainer Kanye West at an impromptu mall concert in Bayonne, New Jersey. West will subsequently be assaulted by a fanatical Justin Bieber fan dressed in a makeshift Jersey Devil costume

12. actor and "Jackass" TV series regular Johnny Knoxville will perform a stunt in the Florida everglades in which he voluntarily allows a snapping turtle to bite his genitals, Knoxville then being to rushed to a local hospital where doctors perform emergency surgery, removing one of the actor's testicles

13. a New York art critic will sue Starbucks for $200 million, citing severe emotional distress inflicted on him by a Starbuck's store employee after being forced to wait ten minutes to receive his order of coffee when he was informed his wait would only be five minutes. The alleged victim will later amend the lawsuit, accusing the Starbucks employee of urinating in his cup of coffee before handing him his order

14. In an unusual instance of irony, a Merrill Lynch stockbroker and mutual fund manager, while attending the annual "running of the bulls" festival in Pamplona, Spain will be gored to death by a bull.

I was looking at Godzilla toys and while many of them got my attention, this is what got my attention instantly as soon as I saw it:

http://www.amazon.com/Sci-Fi-Revoltech-032-Legion-Gamera/dp/B005JA7UHC/ref=pd_sim_sbs_t_3

As someone who like Gamera 2 the most out of the 90's trilogy (As well as the entire Gamera series) and think the Legion Queen is a badass... this shouldn't be surprising to anyone. big grin very funny

Here's a "badass" figure I've mulled buying for several years: a 1993 Bandai Toho Kong from the film King Kong Vs Godzilla(1962): http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrismuller/3616918011/

I've seen this figure sell for $150 on eBay and over $100 at a couple of other websites.

I've always wanted this figure to add to my modest kaiju toy collection.

I feel the need to gripe about something, and that something has to do with my school life. It is not about the school being insensitive to my family life or anything. This is something which impacts me on a more social.

The fact of the matter is this: I am not a straight A student. Nor do I shoot for stuff. Being an over achiever or having those kinds of goals have turned some people (particularly ones in my Math 3B class) into real asses and seems excessive. Not to mention that with things like the possibility oil no longer being priced in USD is something which - if it happens - will defiantly wreck the college dreams of a whole generation of Americans who want to go to college. Of course, foreigners can exchange their currency for a lot of USD and go to college, but us Americans on the other hand…

Knowing that I am not a straight A student, and maybe just borderline average, the following statement might sound odd to you:

I seem to be looked up to a lot in class.

My teachers comment on me. My US History teachers says I am bright and my Environmental Science teacher says that in my case (considering my grade in the class, how hard I work, and the amount of absences which I accumulate), all I have to do is come in once a week and I’d be good. Of course, I don’t work all that hard and I just pay good attention in class (knowing full well that anyone who is intelligent would know that you should heed what is in the class, it’s proven science! But of course I mention this because my classmates are the opposite) and I would pass.

This is not a good thing.

It strokes my ego, but there is a back side to it.

For example, today in class our teacher asked about our opinion about a piece Teddy Roosevelt wrote while the US was fighting with Spain over the Phillipines. After two minutes of silence, I decide to say something (which isn’t my strong suit, I have been taking in mass quantities of HAULS cough drops for the past week). I mention that it is interesting that Roosevelt - in the first sentence - dispels a critisism which would have been eas to place upon America at the time - that America is just a land hungry country.

Everyone agrees.

Teacher asks why?

No one says anything.

Teacher asks if they are blind followers (which is ironic, since about a third of the class rooms in the school have a poster which more or less state a philosophy clearly, “If you don’t stand for something, you’d fall for anything”).

Someone says no. After the no, he said something which I have burned into my mind, “Evan is always right”.

That’s the sad thing. Of course, conversation helps pick up soon after ward after the teacher starts asking questions which are less intellectually intimidating to the students (along with me acting like a historical/political pundit).

It gets worse in science class. Today, we were given a guide to begin the new chapter with. All I did today was basically have a bunch of people come up to me asking me for answers and explanations for things which are common sense. I am asked “What is climate”. I say something along the lines of, “the average weather an area experiences within a certain time period as observed over the expanse of years”. They do not get that. Did I say something wrong? Are they afraid that my wording is too different from what is within our text books? A ton of other people keep asking me for things and by the end of the period, almost everyone is done with their stuff except for me. I had been lecturing people about common sense stuff for an hour. And I cannot just shew them away. It is like they depend on me as a fail safe.

And now guess what? One might get a kick our of this.

My graphics teacher wants ME to pick out a film for the class to study and maybe do a little project of (making posters or lobby cards, which that did put a smile on my face).

It’s stressful. And the worse part is that it conflicts with stuff I have been conditioned to believe. I am talking of course of things which I have in my psyche thanks to the spiteful people of the kaiju fandom. I have been wounded by this fandom, one which calls me a “dumb ass hole” and mentions things like, “I wonder how Evan feels knowing that everyone in his high school is getting laid except for him.” It hurts and a part of me believe those comments.

I just don’t know how to handle all of this. Just gives me one big friggin migrane.

Two things here that jump out at me:

1. you mention "ego". If you have an ego, Evan I would recommend putting it aside as much as possible, now and in the future. I've seen too many big egos in my lifetime, both at work and when I'm socializing and they often get those possessing them into trouble. Believe it. Pride, self respect, self motivation, a conscience(a sense of right and wrong), discipline and courtesy/respect for others are all good things. Ego isn't. winky

2. be glad your teachers have a generally positive opinion of you as a person and a student. Now, if you feel they are putting you in the "spotlight"(for lack of better word) then have private conversations with them and let them know, respectfully that they're attention(s) make you feel uncomfortable. A good teacher will always listen to you and your concerns assuming you speak to them in a civil and respectful manner.

Use the opportunity to pick out a film and produce an accompanying "project" to go along with it as a means by which to improve your writing, organizational and communication skills. You'll need these skills when you enter the work force, you can be certain of that.

Respectfully, your claims to have been "wounded" by the kaiju fandom on the internet are something you and you alone allow to happen in your own mind. I was a teenager once(believe it or not tongue-1 ) and I was much more impressionable and far easier influenced by what school classmates said to me and about me. Eventually I learned to tune most of it out and simply be myself all while focusing on finishing high school and getting ready for college. Growing up isn't easy, Evan and it requires work, just as all parts of life do. There is absolutely no reason, as I see it, for you to be "wounded" by anything anyone says about you on internet message boards or by school classmates. I know it's easier said than done. The thing is, those making these remarks about you don't know you and their comments, as profane as they may be, are completely without merit because they originate from people who have never met you or those who know you superficially and only say something to you to generate a reaction. As for the comment about you being the only sex deprived student in your high school, some students are not as sexually active as others. This comment is also made by someone only interested in trying to demean you. You have the power to ignore it, tune it out and refuse to let it bother you. For the record, I didn't "get laid" until I was a junior in high school and I was so inept with my young lady friend(a school classmate) on the couch that I considered simply hauling ass out of her house(her parents were away hence why I was there and not being attacked by her father clowny1 ). The point: who gives a damn if you're "getting laid" or not? You'll have plenty of time to sow your proverbial oats after high school anyway. Count on it.

You mentioned things you are "conditioned" to believe. By who? Looks to me like you have conditioned yourself. You can also "un-condition" yourself as well.

Your best bet, Evan is to do well in your classes, maintain your good rapport with your teachers, be a good son to your mother, be a good brother to Zach and be a good man for yourself...and forget about what your classmates say or think about you. Try this simplified approach and while you do it always think about ways to improve yourself as you finish high school and look to enter the work force.

Dealing with a little depression right now. After three or four weeks into my job and getting paid on a weekly basis, things have gone downhill. I haven't had a decent check in almost a month. I received seventy two weeks ago, and eighty today, which is hardly enough to cover much of anything here, even living with my sister. My Dad had to put two hundred in my account last week because of a bounced check, and at the end of last week after driving to and from Greensboro every day, I didn't even have enough to buy a carton of cigarettes (I know that's not a necessity, but for pete's sake, I buy a carton every two weeks; not something that should break me). I've been promised a ride to the courthouse to take care of a ticket I got while driving to work since December, and it was cancelled again this morning. I know I should go myself, but the guy told me he would take me, because he also had something to take care of down there. I'm dangerously close to the end of my chain here; I don't even feel like going to work anymore, but if I don't, that's a missed possibility to make money. I keep hearing "The check should be in the mail from --- at the end of this week," and I'm getting tired of hearing it. I'm not used to this type of work; my back, knees and arms ache from the various types of jobs I do daily, and I'm almost to the point that I don't even want to call him in the mornings. Hell, half the time, after getting up anywhere between seven to seven-twenty, we usually don't start until nine, and sometimes as late as ten. What's the point of getting up so early? It's really frustrating, because he told me he would work around my school schedule; I'm planning on going back to finish up next fall, or possibly this summer, and I thought it would be nice to work part-time while in school. He keeps saying not to worry about money, and that things will change soon, but I can't not worry; it's just not my style. Especially when it comes to deadlines or money; if it doesn't happen on time, bad things happen.

I'll call and leave a message in the morning (He never picks up his damn phone, which is garbage, especially when I need to know the plan for the day), and I'm going back to bed. If he calls, okay. If not, I'm going to do nothing for the day.

But for right now, today is done, and I'm about to sit down to some pizza and watch Blood+ on Netflix, and maybe I'll feel better.

I just felt like getting that off my chest; it's too late to call Dad, and I don't really have anyone else handy at the moment.

Unemployment, "underemployment" and other work related stress can absolutely take a toll on a person and it sounds like it's wearing on you. I'm not going to blow any smoke up your ass with statements like "hang in there and things will get better" or similarly worded and cliched gibberish. I'm sure you've heard that already.

No matter how bad things got for me in the past and no matter how dicey they get for me in the present I have always taken a "move forward" attitude. It's obviously a lot easier said than done. With the current economic conditions in this country(which are obviously bad) my advice to you would only be to keep plugging: keep working, work as much as you can and whenever you can doing WHAT EVER you can. Get yourself in front of and around as many people as possible. Thank those that are assisting you now and work to be a good employee for your current boss in spite of the disdain you feel for him.

In August, 2010 I resigned from my job as a nursery manager making about $32,000 a year because the man I worked for was a liar and a bigot. I was turned down for unemployment benefits by the state of GA(I resigned "with cause") and had ZERO job prospects after four weeks of looking for work. I made a lot of phone calls, posted resumes of myself all over the internet and "networked". A former boss made a couple of calls and I got part time work working with a lawn maintenance contractor, working on average 20 hours a week. With his permission I also do work on the side for some of his clients(work he doesn't do for them as part of his contract with these clients). In 2010 I earned about $450/week and now I average about half that amount for a large part of the year and about $250/week during the fall(and "leaf" season). Still, I'm earning income and I have savings now = to five months rent.

I'm convinced my situation, which while not great is still a LOT better than being unemployed and being broke, has happened because I didn't give up and I used my friends and contacts in my line of work.

I hope your situation improves. I believe it can and will IF you keep plugging and work through those days when you don't want to climb out of the rack.

Long term, and for me, I'm hoping to get full time work with either Home Depot or Lowes. I'd like to work as an hourly sales associate and continue doing private gardening and maintenance landscaping work on the side on my off days. I've been trying to hired by Lowes or Home Depot for about five years now. It's disconcerting when I visit these stores and see some of their sorry employees in action, knowing I could work harder, do better and be a better employee for them.

The thing is, I'm not giving up. I'll get hired eventually. In the meantime, I'm like a dog scrounging through garbage cans for food scraps except I'm scrounging around for work...and finding it. It will keep me going this year anyway.

I at times can be a very pessimistic and "glass half-empty" person. When stuff like this starts to happen and progressively gets worse, my self-esteem goes downhill. That's something I'm working on, but I give up too easily sometimes, and I need to stop. But I understand what you say about "sticking it out." I'll probably hold that job for a while, because I think I was less happy waking up and trying to find something to do when I was out of work.

With all that said, thanks for the words of encouragement. I hope you don't think I'm trying to get people to feel sorry for me; I've always found that it helps to let it out, to anybody that will listen, really. Anyway, had a fun night last night and woke up feeling much better. Plus, he called me and said to take today off if I wanted, so I did. I slept in until about 8:30 and it felt great. I'm going to just hang out at the house today, maybe go visit my parents, and just take it easy, and go in with my head up tomorrow and see what happens.

I don't think you were looking for pity and I'd like to think anyone else around here that read your post came to same conclusion.

It took me a long time to realize it's okay to ask for help from friends and family(the latter assuming you have family of course)...provided you're always trying to help yourself which I happen to think you are. During our struggles, and as you alluded to, we all have our "down" days. Hell, just getting older is itself a source for more "down" days for me, especially when my arthritis flares up in my feet or knees.

I've always felt it's better to be working, to be "out there" doing something for pay. You can bet any future employer will look upon you much more favorably if you keep yourself engaged with employment, be it full time or part time. I also believe keeping employed in some way shape or form affords a person a better chance at opportunities for additional work: that's certainly been the case for me. I believe men, at least most men feel better about themselves if they get up and do something for a living every day: feeling useful is for me a good feeling and something that motivates me to get up and get at it every day.

Sad to hear that, still there's always a change to find a girl who likes a quiet man... good luck if you decided to find a new GF. winky

Anyway, I'll be gone for a few days starting either tomorrow or Thursday since I'm getting a new game... so keep this forum active everyone while I'm gone and ask me more questions. Mr. Smiles tongue-2

heyo

Why do have to be "gone for a few days" after buying a new video game? Do you barricade yourself in your room with Croyt, the angry gamer? clowny1

Well since I like to play video games slowly, I would rather just focus on it for a few days until i get bored or finished the game. winky

I would never barricade myself in my room, especially with that crazy butt-wiping ass-munch. boredd

I am just a little on edge with the praise a certain piece of writing on a certain site has been getting. My malcontent stems from the fact that the writing is simplistic, the facts there are pretty well known, ect. Only thing good is that it cleared up one point of confusion about a product and revealed the source of a feature on that product.

I just... I would hope more challenging work will be presented by the writer soon because the owner of the website hopes it is not the last the writer will produces for the site.

Why would you "be on edge" if your submission was receiving praise? huh?

Just keep working at your writing skills, Evan and forget about how your work may be received. If you work at your grammar and spelling and insure that your work is 100% accurate factually, the improvement will come.

If you need me to "spell check" anything you have prepared for a possible submission I can do that. winky

I am talking of another's work.

Though thanks for the advice. I guess since it is basicaly the same thing which has been said to me over and over again for the past couple of years I am not getting any better. deadzone

Atleast Keith Aiken said on TK my writing has "improved greatly".
