Thank you very much for the kind words, guys. I'm not trying to start a pity-party here, just unloading a little bit.

I don't learn from my mistakes very well, and it seems like I excel only when I have guidance from someone
Why do you think that is? Assuming you've asked yourself have you come up with any answers or theories?
I honestly can't put my finger on it. The only thing I can say is that I work best if I have a routine. A set list of duties to do each day that I can figure out a system for. Once I get into a routine, I can make it happen. I might be slower that the next guy, but my duties will get done more efficiently. If I get duties that involve multiple angles of thought it's hard to get a routine down, and I have trouble.

the man chose to insult me; saying things like "you f*ck up everything you touch," and "why can't you do anything right."
He shouldn't even have a job at that point. If this is his attitude towards everybody, as you state further down, then it's a wonder he's still employed.
This is one of the problems. He is a self-made millionaire who answers to nobody. He is the boss.

Positive encouragement - He's doing it wrong.
Pretty much. I say again; this guy was/is hopelessly arrogant. Why would you tell someone that you could hire another worker to do twice their work for what your paying them now? Only to turn around and say "I think you're making a mistake in quitting?" I fail to see the logic in that.

Well, I finally quit today. I didn't mention it in my last post, but one of the reasons for the recent "hostility" between the two of us was because I was spending too much time on certain projects that by all rights shouldn't have. I'll own up to the fact that I have trouble learning; it takes me longer to pick up on things than the average person, and it hurts me often. But instead of just being mad about it, the man chose to insult me; saying things like "you f*ck up everything you touch," and "why can't you do anything right." In my opinion, that isn't at all necessary, especially when, after he hired me, I specifically told him that I wasn't very knowledgeable about some of the things he was asking of me. I hate to make excuses, but facts are facts. The icing on the cake came yesterday, when he told me he couldn't justify paying me $7.50 per hour (which was originally eight per hour) for me to "waste time" on things that should be done faster. So he told me he would pay me fifty dollars a week. I ask myself this a lot, and I ask it again, much more sincerely: How can a person's conscious allow them to do things like that? I realize that this guy has big plans for me in the future, but is it worth fifty dollars a week? So I made a judgement call and said no today. When I called him and told him, he informed me that I was making a mistake; that if I stuck with him and learned, it would pay off in the future. This was after he told me he could hire someone for $300 a week that could do everything he asked. You could cut the atmosphere of utter arrogance that surrounds this person with a knife. He made it sound like he was my best option; like I would be sorry if I left. What a pigf*cker. The entire situation left me broken yesterday, and I couldn't sleep last night because of it. I felt so stupid and worthless; like I would never be able to find something that I could do and do well. I don't learn from my mistakes very well, and it seems like I excel only when I have guidance from someone. It's very frustrating to think that may be my lot in life; that I have to have someone hold my hand everywhere I go. My Dad talked to me last night and told me that while I do have problems with learning that I shouldn't let this get to me, because this guy is like this to everyone, even his own son. Everybody's mind who doesn't work the same way his does is an idiot. So now I feel much better about myself, and as I search for a job i won't be nearly as worried and depressed as usual. I'm worth more than fifty dollars a week. That guy sounds like an asshole and a complete idiot, it's great you quit a job where you boss doesn't respect or understand you, anyway good luck on finding a new job.

Is there a reason why am I no longer surprised by the stupidity of man kind? You're implying that you've been surprised by it before?
One of my favorite movie quotes comes from Tommy Lee Jones in the movie Men In Black: "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it." Not because it's funny or because it is a moving statement, but if you think about it, there's a basis of truth behind it.

I went to the dentist today for my second(and final cleaning) and to have two more damaged back molars removed. Thus far I've had a complete cleaning and four(4) molars(upper and lower on both left and right sides) removed. The cost so far: $1135.
Now I have to have five(5) fillings and a set of partial dentures made = $1712 (and that includes a 15% discount).
The extractions of my two front teeth = at least a $1000 and probably more. I have to go to another dentist for these extractions.
In summary, everything I need to do will likely cost me around $3000.
All the years I smoked cigarettes(1984-1999), "dipped"(smokeless tobacco aka snuff) and chew tobacco(1982-1999), along with my near life long coffee habit, has made this dental work necessary.
Some good news: my bottom teeth are in generally good shape(a few are slightly crooked but that's it). My upper teeth(excluding my two front teeth which are damaged) are also in fair shape but will need most of the fillings.

Good lord . . . The "Lord" would indeed be good in my book...if he helped me out by paying for this work.
I'll likely do some of this work "piecemeal", meaning I'll try to spread the work out over 6-8 months.

Looks like I've finally got a new job as a concession-stand worker at one of the local theaters. It's not quite official yet, but I should get a call as soon as the background check clears.

You're working right now? I thought you weren't. I'm not at work but I get money because of my problems, I'm not going to go into further detail since it's personal.
