For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Kinda. They usually eat worms and crickets. We do gather roaches for them as a treat.

A little bit of a complaint which doen't mean a whole not and is not as depressing as what have posted in this thrad before.

Bascally, I found out how much of a drag my newest filmmaking project is. It has only taken me 2 weeks and as of now, is atleast 5 minutes long, and could be something I am proud of ultimately, if some of the experamental measures I am taking works.

But here is the thing: it is more of a documentary than a story. A school assignment more than something from my own heart. In fact, it is a school assignent. But it is such work. And I still lament the crappiness of Windows Movie Maker, one of two editing softwares I use to make videos. The only reason I even need it is when I use still images made in paint or such.

Eh. I'm just not feeling attached to this. Whatever. I am happy to say that VOTING DAY is getting a showing in front of an audience of 20 so high school seniors, so it is kind of a double feature.

In case there is a question in ones mind about the assignment, it is a sociology class assignment in which I have to cover matterial in a chapter of my choosing (most get in groups, but I work alone to ensure quality and originality). I got the chapter on economics and politics. Alas, I got last pic and I would think it would be taken before moi because of the easiness.

F*** YEAH! I just got a Blue-Eyes White Dragon and a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon in TF5!

EDIT: So now I have a Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon and a Black Skull Dragon. With 2 more BEWDs and a few support cards I have in mind, I should be able to make a pretty badass Blue-Eyes deck soon.

The topic of this post is about money and hunger.

I am still unemployed. I have filled out internet applications (not like there is anything you can actually sign up for) for jobs for all of the places one could get a job in town. Adults have similar troubles. Yet, someone younger than me tries to say it isn't that hard to get a job. Sorry, but it is not my fault the good lord decided that 16-18 year old girls just look better than guys. This isn't some romantic or sexual thing, young women in high school are just plain more pleasant to look at than guys or older women. How do they not see this? Maybe they are trying to show that they are not concieted. Well, congratulations, in return you look like a dumbass.

In the meantime, I am not mowing lawns. People have either moved or some "valley lawn shark" company of three people have taken clients. Makes me wonder. These people I reckon charge as much or more than the grandfather on my mother's side - a little more than $100 ($115 maybe). They do everyting - hedges, weed killers, grass, gutters, ect. I do only grass for $30-$40. I would think the difference would be more than enough for people to do the things which are easier than the grass cutting.

So now, the last two weeks have been tough ones. And the past two days and the next three days are going to be the toughests. We are now down to about 15 cans of green giant veggies (peas, green beans, and corn). Water, so I hear is to be shut off any day now. Of course, I've heard that for atleast for days so I think we're going to make it. Still, we have gallon jugs filled with water in the frige. Nice to see something other than condoments in the frige.

The worse is not being able to rely in our bank. Overdrawing our accounts was always something we could rely on as a god send. Sure, puts us in the negative and has a fee of $35, but the next social security check on behalf of my late father comes in to fill the void and then some.

This month, for some oddball reason, we cannot overdraw the account. When you call the bank's 800 number, you get two numbers: how much you have in your account and how much you can overdraw. Evidently, talking to people on the phone and talking with people at the specific bank, it seems to be a safeguard the ATM has in place, that there are too many "flags" on the account.

Alright, so that is what my mother knows. What I want to know is what these flags are and how many days we have to wait till they aliviate. Turns out, people say that no one knows. Excuse my french, but bull shit. As someone with an account at the bank, nothing should be secret as far as the function of the bank and my account. Someone must know. Maybe I have to start making phone calls myself, but this is just bull crap.

Of course, I haven't made such phone calls yet. I'll do so tommarow as an alternative to what I have been doing. What I have been doing for the past four days is walking up to the bank at 7 (a 45 minute walk with only one instance of jay walking) and trying to see if the machine will spit out the cash. Dissapointment ensues. Not even $80. People tell me that $100 is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things (I heard that when I complained about the pricing of a kaiju figure). The grand scheme of things doesn't matter. It is the here and now when such an economy means you got to be on survival mode where you are thinking more of the next month instead of the next year.

Guess what was the only thing I could do? Today, I spent three hours going up and down the highway with the largest amount of stores on it and scavanged for abandoned cash on the ground. A nickle here, a bunch of pennies there, and three quarters - two still shinny, one bent in half. WIll the bank even honor such? I didn't count it in the count.

What I have now, and the 27 cents in the bank, could come togeather for a nice McDOnalds cheeseburger. A little, one patty, cheeseburger. More bread and condoments than meat. I am not complaining. A drifting man would think such as a blessing. Someone in my predicament would think the same.

So, I have been living off of veggies and water. My brother has diet supplements and coffee, which I will let him have. I don't care for the supplements at all, and with the physical work I have to do, I do not need to start having digestional problems which this diet food seem to put my through (more so than chinese or a food with a lot of veggie oil).

Let this bit of sunshine into my life give unto you an expression of how life is in 2012 America for the lower middle class, if I even dare to be that gracious with my status. There is more I could tell, which would be going into the embarrasing stuff, but I'll spare such for as long as it doesn't bother me too much.

Filling out job applications online isn't good enough if you're unemployed and looking for work. You must get out and personally visit some(if not all) of the places where you apply for employment. Believe it. winky

Whoever that 'someone" is must be completely ignorant to the unemployment crisis in the United States.

A standard two or three man crew of lawn maintenance workers operating out of single truck(and trailer) would likely charge about $40-$50 per visit for basic mowing, edging and blowing. Add pruning and herbicide applications and that number goes up a good bit, likely around $80-$100 a visit although for all of those services many lawn maintenance contractors would likely charge by the month(and not by the trip) since the kind of work and the amount of work necessary on a typical residential property would vary depending on the time of year and the size of the property. winky

If you're implying that pruning and hedge trimming is "easier" than mowing a lawn that would depend on the size of the lawn and the size of the property overall. A lone person could likely manage their own hedges in a small(er) yard but obviously a single person couldn't hope to do that on a property that is an acre or larger in size and with the majority of that acreage needing to be maintained.

Contact local churches who can put you in touch with local food banks.

Water, so I hear is to be shut off any day now
Because of an unpaid water bill? heyo

If so call the company(or city) that manages your water and see if you can work something out with them.

Anyone who tells you that $100 isn't a lot of money is either a fool or themselves insanely wealthy. I'm inclined to think the former. clowny1

Nono

Evan, have you or your your mother applied for SNAP assistance? (that's the acronym for food stamps)

I want you to understand two things regarding your post:

1. there is no reason for you to be embarrassed at all about your predicament. A high school student shouldn't have to be worried about many of the things you(and the bro) are having to deal with right now(which you've told me about by PM)...but both of you are and you both have to deal with it so make the best of it.

2. your situation has a chance to get better if and only if you(and again the bro) don't give up AND you ask for help. The WORST thing you can do is not ask for assistance.

I want you to continue to update me on what you touched on in your post, either in this topic and/or by PM. If you are not comfortable asking for help with your food situation at home I would be happy to contact local churches or food banks(if they're around) in your area by phone or email in my free time.

I'll ask for help, but we don't need to get on any more social services. As for meeting people, I have physically met all of these places askingg for a job, and they all said internet. The only two places which did otherwise was my local Publix (which got me in a back room to do an interview) and the local theatre (which is hiring next month, which is awesome since DJANGO UNCHAINED is also comming out next month, so free watchings and merch). Interesting enough, the local theater has you fill you a form to bring back. That is just great. And I know I would be passionate about that job (not that I wouldn't b happy to work at Publix. I personally love Publix. Of all the grocery stores I have been at, it just has a nice atmosphere).

With any luck, you'll only have to hang in there a little while longer before getting hired.

A theater will likely start you off on concession and have you working mostly on weekends with 8 hour shifts, and it's not a bad job once you get the hang of it.

Just make sure you're partnered with a more experienced employee for the first couple days. And make sure that they let you get plenty of hands-on experience with the cash register BEFORE they let you start working without a partner. The more familiar you are with the interface, the more comfortable you'll be when you start your job for real.
