Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Just wanted to wish you, 'Good Luck', with your back surgery, tomorrow, Lee.  :)  Here's hoping the recovery time is quick and you're feeling better, very soon.

Thanks Kimi. In the short term I'll be in some pain and have some lingering soreness, but in the long term this procedure will alleviate chronic pain I have been enduring for more than two years. Look for me to start posting again, albeit somewhat less frequently, in about a week. Hopefully I'll be back to hammering away at my computer keyboard, full blast, in about two weeks. :)

Good Luck, Lee, I hope you get the PT job, would be nice, if you got to enjoy some of the events in the process of working, too
The pay is modest for these PT positions with the Dome event staff-about $8-9/hr depending on the job. Dome staffers can get a nice discount on merchandise sold at the various shops inside the Dome. In fact, I'll probably pick up a nice Atlanta Falcons cap and a cap of your(and Trentonfella's) beloved Philadelphia Eagles, as well. tongue-1

Thanks buddy. I'll be at the hospital in about three hours(around 9 AM). My girlfriend warned me not to to make any passes at any nurses while I'm there. tongue-1

I'll be back in about a week. :)

Well, I suppose if you do make a pass at a pretty nurse AND your girlfriend catches you, you're in the best place you can be, at the moment. ;)

You take care and we'll look for you, soon.

Some unimportant ramblings of mine......

-It's HOT! I hate the Summer months and the past week or so, the temps have been so hot and humid, it takes your breath away to walk outside. Definitely looking forward to Autumn.

-We put a bird feeder up about 6 weeks ago, on the back deck. We didn't seem to get a lot of attention, at first, so I began scattering some seeds along the deck as well as the lawn down back. We suddenly hit the big time, about 2 weeks ago and the seed was going fast. We've seen morning doves, blue jays, chickadees, cardinals, robins, etc. I thought the seed was going, quickly, but then, it does rather look like a scene from Hitchcock's, The Birds, on occasion. Then, a week ago, I suddenly noticed not one, but two very large squirrels at the feeder! I have to shoo them away at least twice a day.

-My one younger brother and his ex-wife had to show off in June and July and 5 of their 6 kids celebrate birthdays in June and July. We had one, 04 June, 25 June, 06 July, 08 July and 10 July! My yoingest brother's wife has her birthday on 13 July....could this be part of my reason for not enjoying the Summer months? Far too many birthdays!

-I spent part of last evening looking through upcoming DVD releases.....I have so many titles coming out that I want as well as a large backlog of discs that are out that I still don't have.

Can I ramble even more? You bet!

-Spent the day with my Dad, youngest brother and his daughter. Carol and I met them all at 10:00AM and we shopped a little, well, Dad and my brother did and then we went out for lunch and finally, Carol and I followed my brother home and spent the afternoon with him, his wife and the little one.

-I used my brother's rider and mowed a good portion of his lawn for him. He asked me to wander out with him and he hauled the rider out and told me to give it a try, I did. Mr Green

-Cool down a wee bit, today. It was in the low 80s, but the humidity was way down, which made it more bearable, I suppose.

-Two of my nephews are on the all-star baseball team and they continue to win. They had to travel about 3-3½ hours for a game, yesterday and won and if they win, tomorrow night, they have to beat a team twice in order to move on.

-Carol found something interesting about the squirrels bothering the bird feeder. She read that if you mix cayenne peeper with the feed, the squirrels won't touch it, but it won't bother the birds, so we're testing that theory out....stay tuned to hear the results.

-Dad received the inspector's report on the house he's interested in, so tomorrow, he will sit down with his Realtor and go over the report and decide on the next step.

-Can you believe how expensive groceries are, these days? freak out We did damn little grocery shopping, last night. Picked up no snackie foods, no soda, no sweets and the bill was still over $70. I think Carol said it perfctly, it's a helluva lot cheaper to be fat, then to try and eat healthy!

-Prescriptions aren't a whole lot better, but thankfully, with my Humana prescription coverage, prices are a lot better. I got a new blood glucose monitor in the mail, Thursday and the strips, with my prescription coverage will cost just just under $19 for 100 testing strips.

-My nephews and their baseball team won again, last night, the first time in five years they beat this team, so their all-star trek continues on. They play on Sunday and if they lose, their season is done, but should they win, they'll have to play the team one more time to see who is finally elimenated.

I can. It's like every other damn thing in life you have to have to live: it's expensive. I usually try to shop at Kroger, because I have a Kroger card that affords me small discounts on many items in their stores. I rarely shop at Publix: they offer no such discount card, which I think is bullsh*t. thumbs down

I have been to Publix, but only while in Florida. I think Carol's Mom shops a lot at Winn-Dixie or did. Carol and I love the clementines, but they were asking almost $8 for a large packge of those! freak out Veggies and fruit are so expensive, it's just damn scary.

There used to be a Winn-Dixie near my house growing up as a kid-my mom shopped there all the time. It closed around 1981 or 1982. I don't think there are any Winn Dixies left in Atlanta.

I currently have a "standard cable" package with Comcast which affords me 77 cable channels and video on demand service as well. On Saturday, July 21st I am switching my internet and phone service over to Comcast(from Bellsouth/AT&T). I am subscribing to what's called the "Comcast Triple Play Preferred" package, which runs $114.99/month for the first 12 months. I'll get 198 channels, the signal upgrades to digital, and I also get free McAfee Internet Security Suite(Firewall, Anti-Spyware, and Anti-Virus) for free(I pay $5 extra a month for Bellsouth's Internet Security Suite). Below is the list of channels I will get in this cable upgrade:

Next week, and it's with my personal physician, not the surgeon. I like my doc-he's slightly younger than I am and has a very calm and affable demeanor. He's also a good listener, which is good since I sometimes throw lots of questions at him. tongue-1

I didn't notice, is The History Channel: International part of the package? I think I;d really enjoy that channel, too.

No rain here for days, again....walking on the grass is like walking on hay. The grass it turning brown and crunches quite loudly, beneath your feet.

Yesterday (Monday), Carol was off and she spent a good portion of the morning in the storage shed, sorting through a ton of her action figures. She has a buyer/collector stopping in, today to look through her collection. Mom called and Carol likes to do things around the house and Mom likes Carol's work, so she asked if Carol would be willing to put up some mirrors as well as some mini-blinds. We got there and between Mom, Carol and me, we got the three mirrors up without too much trouble. The one room Mom wanted a mini-blind in was the laundry room and the window was high! Carol's knee was bothering her and Mom can't get that high up, so I did it. I was so sore, last night, standing on the ladder, balancing myself and having my arms up for so long, damn near killed me! ;)

After all that, Carol and I ran to the 'city', so she could grab a price-guide magazine and we grabbed a pizza and came home and relaxed. Mr Green

That's great, I really like my physician, too, he's never given up on me and is really neat. One afternoon, while waiting in the waiting room, I was reading my issue of Rue Morgue and took it in the exam room, of course and he saw it when he came in and he and I had a great chat about horror films....he's a fan, too, so he is definitely cool in my book. No, kaiju figures for Carol. Her main interest when she was collecting them steady was the Star Wars figures, Spawn figures as well as many comic book characters. She loves most anything that McFarlane puts out, so she is holding on to most Spawn/McFarlane figures. I think she made the buyer a great deal, because he's buying them to put on eBay, he bought 100 figures for $100.

I was in the computer room at the time and she knocked on the door and said he was impressed with my posters in the living room and asked if she could show him the computer room, I told her sure. He definitely liked what he saw and said he was going home to try and pick up some Planet of the Apes lobby cards/posters. He asked if I had any and I don't, as they go rather high on eBay. I'm thinking if I had, he might have made me an offer, too.

Oh, forgot to mention, Dad called me, last evening and it looks as if he could have the closing for the house, next Wednesday! shocked smiley If that's the case, Dad is hopping to actually move into the house on either 28 July or 04 August. freak out I don't know if we'll move in right behind him or if he wants to do some of the work in the house, before it's filled and makes doing any work, more difficult. I'm going to stop in and see Dad, this evening, while my Mom, AUnt and Carol go to their meeting and I'll find out more of our schedule, then, I suppose.

That episode, entitled The Earth Is Home, was indeed very sad, and I also found myself sympathizing with the monster, Jamila, which was a human being(an astronaut) before transforming into the giant creature on some alien world. :(

crazed I'm looking forward to this, myself. I would like to write him a letter, now, that would give him about 6 weeks notice, but Carol seems to think we should wait and send the note along with our final rent payment.

On a side note, Dad is suddenly very stressed, not because of the purchase of the house, but all the little things moving entails....changing the adress on everything, getting in touch with people, etc. He saw my Uncle, yesterday and my Uncle was kidding him about all the phone calls he'd have to make.....cable, phone, electreic, etc. and Dad smiled and said he didn't have to worry about that at all, because he was having me do it. tongue-1 I don't mind talking on the phone, Dad does, so if I can keep him from stressing out, completely, I'm happy to do it.

Now, it's my turn to stress a wee bit, I look at this apartment and all there is to pack and I want to cry! shocking Skeet and a bunch of his buddies are moving Dad, all Dad has to do is pack and they'll lift and carry it and he said for us to give him/then about two weeks and they'll do the same for us. I'm probably looking at two weeks, just to empty the walls of photos and posters as well as packing my DVDs and collectibles! dancing cheeky smiley

Why do you think you get bored? Just curious. :)

When I get bored I usually:

-watch a DVD
-read a back issue of G-Fan magazine
-call my best friend whol lives in Dover, Delaware
-go for a walk in my neighborhood park

I get bored because I've done everything I wanted to do that I actually could. This means that the end of the month, the moneyless part, gets... so boring... ugh...

This statement, I take it, means that you have $ during the rest of any given month...except the end? Do you work? Or are you given an allowance of some kind?
