Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

This statement, I take it, means that you have $ during the rest of any given month...except the end? Do you work? Or are you given an allowance of some kind?

Dunno what it's called in English. Studying aid. Plus a little allowance from the friendly parents. Altogether about 1200 SEK. I'm not sure what it's in US Dollars, but it's around 100-110 Euro, I'd theenk.

The end is moneyless because I've spent all the money. :P

Godzilla blast Just wanted to add a greeting from one of my friends. He's got bad breath.

Wow, yesterday and today were absolutely gorgeous days. Temps weren't too high and the humidity was down...way down. Mr Green

Yesterday, we ran some errands and looked for some boxes for packing, but no luck. Today Carol called Wal*Mart and they put aside some boxes for us, we ran down, picked them up and they're all packed, already. Sheesh, are we going to need a ton more boxes.....I hate packing and unpacking, too. cheeky sick smiley

The last time I moved, which was last year, I bought some boxes from U-Haul(I also rented one of their trucks). Did you consider boxes from a U-Haul outlet or were you going with Wal Mart all the way?

To be perfectly honest, I never considered U-Haul, I think there's a few places, locally, where we can rent the truck, which we did when we moved out of my brother's home, but didn't know about the boxes. How large are they and how many do you get....do they come in bundles or packs and if not, how much for each? eh?

I don't remember exactly how many boxes I bought. I do recall that I bought them individually, and not in bundles. I bought small and medium sized boxes only, for smaller things that might break, or were impractical to transport out of a box otherwise(e.g. DVDs, dishes, clothes, etc.). The only things I moved that were not in boxes were my televisions and my computer, which I placed in the front cab of the truck, wrapped in a blanket, and secured with the seat belt. It took me a little over half a day to move(about five and a half hours). I paid, for the boxes, around $50. I was very tired afterwards, you can believe that. tongue-1

I had a visit from Comcast Saturday, 7-21. They installed my new upgraded cable service: I now have over 190 channels and Pay Per View service. I also have their Digital Voice service(local and long distance). It would appear that the Comcast field techs did not leave me a starter CD for their internet service-as part of my bundle(@$114.99/mo) I am entitled to a some free email addresses(through Comcast) and a free McAfee Internet Security Suite(anti-virus, firewall and anti spyware program). Since I already uninstalled Bellsouth Internet Security beforehand I had to download and install AVG's free anti-virus and anti-spyware programs, in the interim. I emailed Comcast about this oversight but won't hear from them until Monday in all probability. I have to admit the techs not leaving me a starter CD was very annoying. A Comcast "Live Chat" rep referred me to Comcast's main phone number and address, and wouldn't answer a single question I had about why the techs would not leave a starter CD. I'm going to talk about that with Comcast as well. very angry

Thanks for the info, Lee. We picked up several boxes from K-Mart, yesterday, they're quite nice, as they have handles, so I boxed up three or four boxes of DVDs, yesterday and two more, today. Now the problem is space for all the boxes! tongue-1 I also cleaned out my computer desk, so not too bad for the morning. If I can move the boxes around enough, I'll try and box up more of my DVDs in the computer room.

I can definitely believe you were whipped, Lee, I am, already.

Cool Beans on the COmcast package, sounds like a great deal, but thumbs down to the installer for forgetting the start-up CD.

I wouldn't look at it that way. Consider yourself an inexperienced writer. You're young and you have plenty of time to improve your writing skills. One way to do this is through, obviously, professional instruction, e.g. tutoring. Another way would be through "self-help" methods like audio tapes, CD's or an instructional DVD. You could also refer to instructional books. The bottom line: if you are not satisfied with how you write, Kex, then work at it to improve. Just practicing writing is a way of getting better, by critiquing what you pen, and consciously trying to make improvements. :)

Let me add that you are always welcome to share yourself here at this site through short stories or anything else you have written. If you are not comfortable doing this I can understand and respect that as well. I have always encouraged any member with a fan art, a fan fiction, or some other media-related submission(like a video) to post it here. This site was made by me for you and all the other members. If you're concerned about negative feedback I can sympathize-you can be assured that any criticism you receive here will only be of the constructive kind. I give you my word on that pal. :)

Yes, I didn't intend for my suggestion that you sahre to come across as pushy, only share your efforts, if you're comfortable in doing so. :)

Packed up more, this morning, officially have used all our boxes, now. freak out I honestly hope Dad does get the keys to the house, tomorrow and perhaps we can begin dropping boxes off, we're out of room, too!

Mom called me, last night, now I have to worry about her, again! Last week, she fell over a vacuum cleaner and buggered up her leg, now the leg is even more painful and warm to the touch, so we're concerned about a blood clot. To top things off, my brother, Michael's ex-wife's daughter from a previous relationship, gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday morning and there were complications, so Mom now has all six of Michael's kids at the house! Ranging in age from 13 down to 5.

I'm trying to. Look below in the "Fan Fiction" forum. I'm about to post a story I wrote many years ago that I think will creep folks out: the story is called The Prescription. I'll post it no later than this Sunday, July 28th, sooner if I have the time. :)

The Prescription is a story I wrote about ten years ago. I was influenced, more than anything, by the television series "The Twilight Zone", and by author Stephen King, in the stories I have written, thus far.

Interesting.

I've been watching some Ultra Q now, and I must say I'm very happy with it. I've come to episode 7, and the monster (I THINK his name is Gorgos) in the episode has Godzilla's roar! Ain't that a fun surprise?

I know Ultra Q uses a lot monster suits from early Toho Kaiju films as well. It's a very fun series, even if I'm rather poor in understanding Japanese. ^_^

...And I didn't know where to put a thread about that, so I just put it here. :D

Well, it's official, Dad is a homeowner, again, which means we will be moving, this month. I'm excited about the prospect of being in a home, again and helping Dad to fix this one up. I'm also a wee bit nervous, because let's face it, not having lived with a parent since I was 15, this is going to be different. I can say with all sincerety, Dad is not the type to nag or put anyone on a guilt trip and so I know, it won't be stressful living with him, in that aspect.

Spent the better part of the day packing and we must have 2-30 boxes sitting around the apartment and I'm sure you won't have a problem believing this, Lee, all those boxes contain my DVDs...not completely done with packing the, as well as figures and some books and CDs. freak out

Carol sold more figures to a guy, today and he was so taken with my posters and lobby cards, last week, he asked if he could possibly see the cards and posters not on the walls. I don't get to 'show off' my collection too often, so I was happy to oblige. Mr Green

Good news, Mom doesn't have a blood clot, but does have a bad infection in her leg, so they put her on antibiotics and told her to stay off her feet, as much as possible. She and I are both amazed that a solid crack to her shin, caused an infection, without there being an open wound, but if anyone can do it, mom can. faster <!--emo&shifty eyes-->Posted Image<!--endemo-->

Heading up to see my Dad, this evening, while my Aunt and Carol attend a meeting, so I'm almost hopeful he gives us a key, so we can start taking vehicle loads up and making room for more packing.

Back when I wasa teen and living with my Aunt, Uncle and cousin, we used to attend the local volunteer firemen's carnival and I won tons and tons of various glasses, mugs and steins and I've finally decided to part with the majority of them and the taker....Skeet.

Humid and warmer temps are moving back in, so that makes me unhappy, but can't even think about that, as there's way too much packing to do!

How's the back doing, Lee? Sure hope the pain has eased up and you're able to move around with a lot more ease and comfort. :)

Whew! What a day, Saturday turned out to be. <_<

-We arrived at Dad's house right around 11:30AM, having spent most of the morning sorting through cookbooks and such. We'd loaded up the back seat of the Tracker with probably 10-15 boxes and planned on unloading and making runs all day....wasn't meant to be.

-Skeet had beev very ill on Friday and wasn't anywhere near 100%, to top it off, some of his buddies backed out on helping, so it was just four of them for two trips. On the second trip, Dad's dresser, was in the back of Skeet's pick-up and wind got under the dresser and flipped it around the bungee cord and the dresser exploded! Thank God, nobody was driving behind Skeet at the time, but Dad's dresser was ruined and they'd actually loaded it with the drawers still in the dresser and full, so Poppy was picking many clothes up along side the road. freak out

-Skeet seemed almost desperate for Carol and me to be there, so we stayed. Dad took Skeet, a friend of Skeet's that was hanging around as well as Carol and me to a local bar/restaraunt, The Ram Zone, for lunch. Afterwards, the guys left and Carol and I went in search of more boxes and tape. We also bought three HUGE bottles of Febreze, as Dad isn't ready to rip the carpet up in the living room area.

-Skeet was so ill, he ended up leaving before the final load of Dad's stuff was unloaded, so we all helped as much as we could and by 5:30PM or so, the trailer and truck was emptied and Skeet's buddies were on their way. Dad was a bit stressed, so I walked down the street, got the three of us something cold to drink and we relaxed on the front porch. As we were sitting there, several vehicles went by yelling welcome to the neighborhood to us......most Dad's friends and people I've known since I was a kid, so that was nice. The woman across the street came over and chattde for a while and so I think Dad was very releaxed when we left.

-My one concern is, I want to keep taking boxes of stuff up, so when Skeet and his buddies come to move us, we won't have a whole lot in here, but Dad seems to think we should wait....I don't think he realizes just how quickly August is going to fly by. freak out

-Talk about hot and humid! Sheesh....this was a horrible weekend to move anything or anyone, let me say. I just hope by the big weekend of our move, the temps aren't quite so brutal.
