MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

On the second trip, Dad's dresser, was in the back of Skeet's pick-up and wind got under the dresser and flipped it around the bungee cord and the dresser exploded!
shocked smiley

Thank God, nobody was driving behind Skeet at the time, but Dad's dresser was ruined and they'd actually loaded it with the drawers still in the dresser and full, so Poppy was picking many clothes up along side the road
freak out Did he manage to recover all the clothes that tumbled out onto the road?

Fantastic. I woke up at 11:00 AM when my brother poured a bucket of water on my head. I hate waking up late. It always ends up with water on my head.

It quite literally doesn't.

I no longer rely on alarm clocks that are connected into the wall via a DC outlet. Sometimes brief power interruptions in the overnight hours can erase the time I have set for the alarm to go off. One alternative was to use an old style analog clock(the one with "hands" on it face) but even those can run low on battery power and malfunction. I now use my Nokia cellphone's alarm function: the beeper has an ascending volume function, the beeping getting louder and louder, and beeps for a full minute and a half. thumbs up

Maybe if you return the favor and throw a bucket of cold water on your brother he will stop doing it to you. heyo

My two young nephews worked all day with us and helped Carol do about four loads of boxes and such, today and then helped at the house, with various projects. Thank god for them, as I can't really lift or carry anything, these days and my legs hurt so bad, tonight, if I thought it would do me any good, I;d cry, but it won't, so I'll avoid the tears.

I'll have to finish posting, tomorrow, I'm so tired and sore, tonight, it's time to get to bed.

A very good friend of mine recently returned from a fishing trip/vacation in Alaska. He sent me some pics by email attachment that I thought I'd put up here. Click the thumbnails to see the images in their original size:

Gorgeous photos, Lee. :) As hot as it's been here and continues to be, I;d love to be in Alaska, now. :(

Tuesday, we continued to move boxes and smaller furniture to the house. My two young nephews were a huge help and we already have them tapped to help Friday and Saturday of this week, too. I did no lifting or carrying at all and that's a huge help with my arthritis and such. Skeet came down, yesterday, but I got very little accomplished, other than boxing some things up and filling the living room with boxes, as Skeet was in a 'chatty' mood. He said he's showing up, today and bringing his truck, so he can load the back and haul more items to the house.

As of Tuesday evening, Dad hadn't really settled anything! freak out I'm not sure if he's feeling overwhelmed at this point or what, but we really can begin unpacking until Dad is somewhat settled. Cable was turned on, Monday and the cable guy was there for hours! He said the cable in the house was older than what they use, now, so he re-wired all the rooms with cable and then didn't like the picture, so went back up the pole and said there must be a weak point in the cable and Dad said he went all over town, till he found the weak spot. He told Dad he was only charging him for 30 minutes work, but he was there for hours.

I swear, I am NEVER moving after this! ;) But, if I do, I hope I'm extremely wealthy and I'm paying someone to pack me and move me.

While I'm happy to hear this I hope this cable installer doesn't raise any suspicions with his paperwork and documentation.

Hopefully you won't have to Kimi...at least not for a long time.

Temperatures down here in Atlanta, GA have been creeping back into the 90's-it's been 90 or 91 all this week, and it's supposed to be 95 on Saturday. freak out

I'm getting fired up for professional football. The NFL's exhibition season kick off this weekend, on 8/5, with the Hall Of Fame game-Pittsburgh Steelers vs New Orleans Saints. battle lines will soon be drawn in the sand around here: Russzilla and Trentonfella are die hard Dallas Cowboys fans, KaijuFanatic is an avid fan of the Denver Broncos...and might as well be a Cowboys fan since she despises the Philadelphia Eagles as much as "Trentonfella" and "Russzilla". tongue-1 As for me, I am a dedicated fan of the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons & Philadelphia Eagles. Anyone else around here at MF got a favorite(or favorites) NFL team?

Carol and I drove up to the house, this morning and measure for some mini blinds and curtains and it was already beastly hot....driving by the bank thermometer, it read 100º, this afternoon. freak out We later went back to the house to visit with Dad, as he wasn't there, this morning and coming home at almost 9:30PM, tonight, the temp had dropped to a slightly more bearable, 70º. Looks like there's no relief in sight, at least for the upcoming week.

I'm getting really excited about the upcoming football season, too! rockin'

Indeed-temperatures this coming week are going to be in the mid nineties all week, and no rain. The heat is on, literally. freak out

I've decided to forgo buying an HD television this year in favor of buying a new computer(no accessories-just the computer), and probably a new cell phone, both before the end of the year. My cell phone is a very basic model, and I want a "flip lid" style phone that can download ring tones and has a better variety of games. The cell phone will cost me $100 and the computer will cost me $250, or less, if I can find a sale somewhere. tongue-1

A friend just got an Iphone, then passed down his Motorola Razr to my girlfriend, who just had the basic flip phone. She has to take it to AT+T to get the service adjusted and it will cost about 20 bucks, but it is well worth it since the thin razr phone has many more features and is much lighter. Personally, I dont even have a cell phone. I had one in the Army, but don't feel like I really need one anymore. What Cell phone provider do you use, Lee?

What Cell phone provider do you use, Lee?

MetroPCS. I like the fact there is no contract, and I also like the fact my bill is the same each month, regardless of how much I use the phone. My bill is about $53/month, and includes:

-call waiting
-call forwarding
-caller ID
-long distance(unlimited)
-local(unlimited)
Features include a calendar, stopwatch, an alarm(which I use a lot by the way), three different games, text messaging, call log, contact list(which can constructed using the phone's memory), settings(including about 15 pre-programmed ringtones), voice recorder, calculator, countdown timer, and an alert service on this phone in conjunction with a debit card I use.

I paid $100 for my Nokia cell phone from Office Depot. It's basic but it gets the job done. I have dropped it, by accident, several times, but it keeps on working. thumbs up

This is the cell phone I currently have:

This is the one I am going to buy before the end of the year( it has the ability to download content from the MetroPCS website, a feature not present with my current cell phone):

Does the new phone have a camera? That's a feature I used to think of as being strictly for hobby purposes but later realized it could be extremely useful in situations like car accidents where you could take a quick snapshot of the scene for insurance purposes. (Luckily I never had to actually use that.)

Does the new phone have a camera?

No. That would require a level of investment that I'm not willing to make right now. I might get a phone with that feature in the next couple of years. One of my hispanic crew members has a flip lid cell phone he paid $300 for, and comes with just about every feature imaginable, including internet service, weather forecasts, and even local television broadcasts(some cable channels like ESPN). His monthly bill for this phone is eating him alive, averaging about $150/month. freak out

As many of you may, or may not know, I have decided to take it upon myself to start up a second discussion site. I've registered this site, also hosted by Invisionfree, and it's called Monsterplex. The theme and emphasis of this board will be general horror and science fiction in cinema and on television. There will be forums at "Monsterplex" like what's here at MF, but I am going to make a conscious effort to keep the second site different enough that those members here may also want to check it out from time to time. Unlike Monsterland Forums, I am NOT going to aggressively market this second site by word of mouth and through search engine registrations. In all likelihood Monsterplex will take even longer to accumulate members, which is perfectly okay by me. I have often wondered if I could successfully start up, and maintain, two separate discussion sites. Looks like I'm about to find out. tongue-1

If you want a sneek peak at Monsterplex click this link: http://z11.invisionfree.com/Monsterplex/index.php

Anyone wishing to register may do so now and also post at this second site if you like. I'll be continuing to work on it over the course of the next two weeks, in order to ready it for posting and other member activity. :)

I really like the look of this new site, Lee and will definitely register there, as well.

Well, we're still in the 'moving' business. freak out Dad kind of flipped a little, alst week and asked for a week to get some of his stuff settled, so we packed up some more, this past weekend, but didn't take any boxes to the house. Sunday, we went to the house and cleaned a bit and put some stuff away, emptied about 6 boxes, so that's a plus. Still gunning for 18 or 19 August as a day when Skeet and some friends show up to do the major move. We won't officially move in until 01 September, but we have things rolling. Got our new address on Saturday and Thursday of this week, the phine lines are done, so that will be taken care of.

Hotter than hell, here, if I say so, myself! It's been so hot and humid,. when you step outside, it actually takes your breath away. Doesn't appear to be any relief on the horizone, either. :(

It's been in the mid 90's for the last week here in Atlanta, GA. The high temps will continue until Saturday, when it will "only" be 88 degrees for a high.

It's finally getting hot here, and has stopped raining finally after weeks upon weeks of downfall. It sure was a crazy Summer this year. But now that it is nice out, it's time to whip out the BBQ grill and catch up on all those lost picnics and parties! groink!

The past few days the thermometer has reached 97 and 98 degrees. Today it was 99. Me and the crew members were drinking a lot of water. I personally consumed today about 1.5 gallons of water and 3.5 liters of sports drinks(Powerade and Gatorade). Surprisingly, I'm handling the heat better this summer than last summer. One reason for this is the fact I weigh 197 lbs right now. Last summer at this time I weighed about 207 lbs. That ten lbs doesn't seem like much but it has made a difference.
It's going to be 100 degrees tomorrow(Friday). freak out

Yesterday was the first day in a week or two where the temp dropped below 80º and I LOVED it! Was very overcast and kind of rainy, which I guess kept the temps down, today, it's sunny and quite warm, but doesn't seem as humid.

Dad came down and picked me up, this morning and we went back to the house and put some more things away. Dad said it was nice to have someone to work at putting things away with and I enjoyed it. I vacuumed the living room and sitting room areas and we took stuff to the basement and garage, too. I was treated to lunch and came home feeling pretty good, although Dad was a bit shocked at how much we still have to move out of the apartment. freak out

We had a very rare occurence in these parts.....a homicide.....actually, a triple homicide. Living in such a rural area, this never happens, locally, but three members of a family were found on Thursday morning, all three were shot in the head or face with a shotgun. Husband, wife and son.....60 year old husband, 56 year old wife and 36 year old son. I was just told that their youngest son has been arrested for the murders. I saw this story was actually on CNN, yesterday. The family was popular and the husband and wife were members of the volunteer fire comapny, here in town. He owned a barbershop in town and his wife had driven a school bus for the school district for a number of years. I'm not sure if the son that was murdered with them was the oldest or middle son, but he had health issues and was living at home with his parents. Certainly very sad and I have been bothered since the news broke, not only because these three people were murdered, but in the manner in which they were killed. Staring down the barrel of a shotgun.....I mean, it's horrible enough to be the innocent victims of a murder, but to be shot by your own son and brother and in such a horrible way.

A good friend of mine that I have known for several years, "Bill", a former U.S. Army soldier and Vietnam veteran, and who is semi-retired, spends much of his free time now traveling around the United States. Bill sent me a couple of pics from his current locale, an area of southern Texas bordering on Mexico. Bill, who is also a very good photographer, took these shots(one of which includes himself):

If I recall right "Bill" mentioned El Paso in his email that accompanied these photos. He also mentioned being fairly close to the Mojave Desert. I do know that he has travelled in northern Mexico close to the Texas border as well. He also mentioned a national park near the border that started with a "T", an Indian name of some kind that I could neither spell nor pronounce. tongue-1
