| Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community! MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports. MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here. For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju). -Lee "Packmule" Merritt site founder |

The "P-trap", according to a plumber who came to my house, is a PVC pipe that runs out from an attic ac/heating unit which eventually meets with the pvc pipe running from a bathroom sink (my house specifically) which then runs to the ground level sewage. The pvc pipe coming out of the ac unit is a "T" shaped pipe setup with the main pipe running down to the bathroom and a small pipe about a 2 feet long sticking straight up which gives it a upside down "T" appearance. When water is backed up in this pipe you can use the T pipe to blow it out or try to suck it up to unsnag clogs. I don't really know if my description helped or if it is even very accurate but I tried. Im not a big plumbing guy. Im not sure why they call this pipe setup a "P trap" but Ive heard it called that more than once. I'll ask the plumber next time. eh? |

I would just go with a new HD set, but that's just me. You might feel like you got burned because the tv was relatively new but instead of paying a chunk of change to fix it I would just think of that as a downpayment on the new technology. Im one of those guys that always wants the new toys, and sometimes I think I will regret it, but I never seem to. I love watching movies on my 37 inch Samsung widescreen hdtv and Ive got its money worth out of it without a doubt. I guess finances always plays a part among other factors though when it comes to making a big purchase such as this, but I would say go for it, we only live once, and you love movies so much you deserve to watch them on something nice. |

I decided to "go for it", as you put it. I went online this afternoon and bought, from Circuit City, an Olevia 32" LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) HDTV. The cost: $539, which included tax. The set was on sale. I opted for in store pickup(@ a Best Buy about ten minutes from my residence) to save $ on shipping. I'll pick this unit up either tomorrow(Thursday) or Friday after work. I want to install it in time to catch some college football games this weekend. My current television, a 30" JVC stereo widescreen-flatscreen with an analog tuner, is a good television-I bought it from HH Gregg(for $400) in late 2004 but it is, at 130 lbs, an absolute bitch to move around. I actually bought a small hand truck from Home Depot a few years ago just to accomodate this unit and the 36" CRT TV I have. Congrats on the new TV purchase, Lee, you'll love it, I know. Mr Green As you can see, we're officially living at the new house, but didn't get the computer up and running until late, yesterday. I am so whipped, I still have a ton of work ahead of me and we are leaving for Canada on Friday, so I won't even be settled when we leave. Oh well, guess I should just be happy to be here. Hot and humid, here, I swear, I've never seen heat/humidity this bad. I thought my eyes were failing, this evening, when we went out to bring some subs home for dinner. It was so hazy and humid, it's unbelievable! thumbs down |

-I'm still in the same general area, just moved about 7 miles from my old apartment. I'm thrilled to be out of the apartment, but still overwhelmed at all the unpacking I still need to do at the house. -Returned from a week's vacation in Canada. Had a nice time, did some fishing ans swimming and overall relaxing. I didn't catch anything of real size, but then I rarely do.....usually look as if I'm trying to stock an aquarium. Mr Green -Left PA in relatively nice weather......lower temps and very low humidity. Arrived in Canada with much of the same weather, but the last two days in Canada, it was VERY hot and VERY humid. Arrived back in PA with the same hot and humid weather. :( -Thrilled to come home to college and now pro football season....I only wish the weather was more Autumn-like. |

Yes, I'm a huge Broncos fan, so sweated out their victory on Sunday, although it was tainted by the Bills player injury. As for college, I've got many teams I cheer on, a few would be: -USC Trojans -Penn State Nittany Lions -Notre Dame Fighting Irish -Colorado Buffaloes -Colorado State Rams -Hawwaii Warriors Yes, the vacation was really nice and I actually did encounter several spiders, but pretty much remained calm, this time! Oh, I'm sorry, Lee, I am still with Chilitech, but only because Dad had recently paid for a year of use, so I had to get a new E-mail addy. You can still E-mail me at my Yahoo addy or; crazy4christmas at chilitech. B) I sincerely apologize for not being around too much, these days, It's been so hectic the past month or six weeks with this move, vacation and trying to settle. This is how my week has gone, so far..... -Monday: Dr's appointment, stopped in and looked at carpet samples and tile/linoleum samples for the house. Dad, Carol and I decided on what we wanted, I called and we ordered it and we were measured and quoted a price for removal, installation and labor. Began tranferring my DVD collection to portable/carry cases, as we don't have room for my huge shelves. -Tuesday: Spent most of the morning working on the DVDs and helping paint the small downstairs bathroom. -Wednesday: Rode with Dad as he had bloodwork done and we shopped for sheets for his bed, found those and also picked up mini blinds for his bedroom and one upstairs hallway window. Made Dad's bed up with his help and when Carol got home, she and I put the mini blinds up in Dad's room. -Thursday: Woke at 5:15AM, Carol was working and Dad went golfing, so I cleaned the house and vacuumed. My cousin came and we went to pick up the dresser my Dad purchased the day before and brought that home to surprise Dad. Cooked a big dinner and then ran to Mom's to help my nephew E-mail some homework to his teacher. Also spent the late afternoon doing more of my DVD cataloging. -Friday: Went shopping and found more portable DVD cases at a nice price, got some curtains, rods and nails along with a few other items. Picked up photos from the vacation in Canada, met my brother at K-Mart and then sat with him while he had lunch. We got home, had dinner and I helped Carol finish up the bathroom painting and did dinner dishes. Tomorrow, I want to really get my DVDs finished up, if at all possible and that should make for a lot of free space. I'm absolutely exhausted and still have more to settle. I didn't call and see about when my ultrasound on my legs will be done and didn't pick up my sleeping pills, so still can't relax, completely, yet. :( |

That's an excellent question Kex, and here's the answer: I have had this site "reviewed" by several people from other IF hosted message boards. Among their critiques was a common gripe: too many forums to navigate. While I disagree with that assessment personally I figure they can't all be wrong. An admin here, Ro-Dan, also expressed the same sentiment to me a few months ago hence I have eliminated the "Polls" forum and blended it into "Casual Chat". Believe me Kex, I'm going to make some mistakes here and there-I'm hardly an expert at running a discussion site. I'll say this: I'm a worker at heart and understand this site will need effort from me, which it's getting. Also, I'm always looking for critique and criticism of this site, in an effort to grow MF and make it more appealing for others to stop, register, and begin participating at. It's a process Kex, and won't happen quickly...but it will happen. thumbs up to you for noticing the change and please continue to ask me any and all questions about MF as you think of them. Thanks. :) |

As many of you may, or may not know, I have registered at eight(8) different support/services and general chat boards, in the last two weeks, in an effort to advertise this site. So far I have posted well over three hundred posts among these eight sites while trying to advertise this message board. I had my first encounter tonight with a rude little tyke calling himself "darth plagus guy"-probably in his early to mid teens, no different I suppose than any other teenager in the grand scheme of things. The age of this lad impressed upon me further the realization that, with an exception here and there of someone in their 20's, just about everyone at these boards I registered at is in their teens. For that reason I'm not going back to any of them. Their links will remain at the bottom of the index page until my obligation to display them there is ended. I do not believe I have any place at any message board owned and operated by those who are so young, and I say that with no disrespect to any of them, or any young person in general. I have received "reviews" where I've been told repeatedly to change the skin of this site, but never any suggestion as to a specific alternative. It has been suggested that I rearrange the order of the forums on this site-when I asked the person who suggested that what specific order he would recommend I received a "I dunno" for a reply. I've had one person describe this site as "boring" but when I asked this individual for constructive ways to make MF more exciting again I got a "I'm not sure-let me get back to you." confused I'm going to finish my link display obligations at the bottom of the main index page and then I'm going to cease any more efforts to advertise this place through these other message boards. At my age I do not believe I have any place on them. I'm going to let this site motor along, as it always has. If we pick up a member here and there that's great. if we don't well...the people that are here are top notch in my mind so that's all good as well. I've been spending too much time at my computer trying to promote this board and its time to take a break from that for a while. A very long while. |

As some of you may, or may not know, Monsterland Forums member Trentonfella has departed for Brunswick, Georgia, located in the extreme southeastern tip of the state(near Savannah) for training related to his job. This training will last around six months and "Trent" will probably not be online very often, at least into the immediate future. I first met this young man while posting at Monster Zero's forums, then later at a message board called It Came from Planet X. I consider myself fortunate to have developed an internet friendship with Trent, as I feel likewise about many others, including quite a few people here. I'm going to pin this "Good Luck" thread for a while. If you want to post anything in support of Trentonfella please do so here. Hopefully he'll see our thread here at some point during the progression of his training. Thanks everyone. :) Sincerely, Lee "Packmule" Merritt |
