There has been in recent weeks a user on the internet who has been guessing passwords and entering websites, altering the site info and also posting pornographic imagery. This user goes by the name "Ben H" at the clubtokyo forum and by "Benjamin Haines" at the tokyomonsters forum. This individual will not, under any circumstances, be granted membership to this forum. Any questions about this(or further comment) please PM one of the admins about this. Also, as a favor to me("packmule") if anyone becomes aware of this guy attempting to "hack" or access this board under another username I would greatly appreciate a head-up. Thank you. :) |

Security update: there is another usermember out there(along with "Ben H") who has been banned from a forum for attempting to access another member's account. This individual went by the username Dark Goji Mundi at the Toho Kingdom site and by Dark Goji Lord at the Kaiju Galaxy site. This individual has been banned from both sites for flaming, abusive PMs, and attempting to access another member's account(at TK) and for collaboration with "Ben H" during his brief, but destructive rampage(after accessing other accounts) on two small boards(at KG site). Along with "Ben H", "Dark Goji Mundi" is another individual who will not be granted membership, under any circumstances, to this site. Just a heads up to the members of Monsterland Forums. Always working, Lee "Packmule" Merritt :) |

In the past week I have registered and become a posting member at four(4) different Invisionfree admin support sites, which offer advertising and graphics services. I have begun actively advertising this site through the use of a sig and topic display at each of these support sites. There is currently a "test account", under the username Gorgo, by which an evaluator from one of these support sites can access Monsterland Forums and then give me constructive feedback, at the support site, by way of a templated format post. Under no circumstances will any test account, this one or any in the future, have posting privileges here at this site, as I will have adjusted the permission masks for evaluators using these test accounts before they access MF. This is FYI for all the members of Monsterland Forums. I need the feedback because I am still a work in progress as an admin, which translates to this site still being a work in progress. Anyone with questions or comments regarding these test accounts please feel free to email me or PM me. Thanks. :) Sincerely, Lee "Packmule" Merritt |

In the last several months a handful of support/services message boards have been "cracked": by that I mean someone not registered at these boards has successfully guessed a weak password belonging to a member of these sites and then gained unauthorized access-this has resulted in these sites being altered to the point of complete ruination. I'd like to repeat myself on the subject of message board security, and the security of Monsterland Forums, again: I am ultimately responsible for the security of this message board but I need the help of every registered member to effect that security. Please make sure your password, to login, is strong. It should have plenty of letter characters-in fact an alpha-numeric password(combining letters and numbers) would be even more difficult for someone to guess. I would highly encourage EVERY member of this message board to use a password that has absolutely NOTHING to do with monsters, or anything else relating to this site. Using a foreign language word is also a good way to thwart "crackers" and others determined to gain unauthorized access to these message boards. They're "out there". Believe it! About eighteen months ago someone attempted to login here at MF eighteen consecutive times, without success. My guess is it was someone who didn't like me, and was trying to guess passwords in order to gain access to this site. There are, currently, two people who have admin CP(and mod CP) authority and access to admin CP at this site: myself and Dan B("Ro-Dan"). That's it. It will probably remain that way for a while. There are two moderators who have Mod CP authority: Josh and Matthew('josh TX" and "gojiramatthew", respectively). This will also remain as is, unless either Josh and/or Matthew requests a change in their member status. That means four people at Monsterland Forums have admin and/or mod CP access to this message board, which makes it especially critical that our respective passwords be impossible to guess. I have worked my proverbial ass off in promoting this site and trying to get activity from others on the internet. I would hate to see all of that go to waste from one weak password that allows a person access in order to wreck this board. I'd like to challenge every member here to re-check their passwords for strength. If anyone needs assistance in getting a stronger password then PM me and I will be glad to assist. I cannot emphasize the importance of having a strong password enough. Many thanks to everyone here, in advance, for your cooperation in helping me maintain the security of Monsterland Forums. There is an important member feature available now(with Zetaboards format) that I would encourage every member here to utilize: Advanced Account Security. To access this feature: Preferences(one of the links at the top of the main page)> Advanced Account Security Anyone not sure how to use this feature can PM me or Ro-Dan, our other admin. |
