Welcome to MONSTERLAND FORUMS! We are a casual and friendly online community of movie fans who like to talk about giant monsters, horror and sci-fi in cinema, on television and on Blu Ray/DVD. There are forums for sports, casual chat and video games as well. For those of you who like making art, writing stories and creating videos, our community includes a forum for these submissions as well. Check out our main index page and other board forums! Anyone is welcome to join our community!

MONSTERLAND FORUMS was created on January 29, 2006 for the purpose of giving fans of giant monster films and other sci-fi/horror movies a friendly online meeting place to discuss all of their favorite films and other things of interest like video gaming and sports.

MONSTERLAND FORUMS has 180,000 posts. This online community, while over twelve years old, is currently no longer as active as the early years(between 2007-2009). Still, we have a half dozen members who continue to participate here.

For those who enjoy giant monster movies be sure to check out THE MEG, opening in theaters on August 10th, 2018. This film, based on the 1997 book "Meg", written by Steve Alten, features an enormous, 75 foot long Megalodon shark! Other giant monster movies that we fans can look forward to: GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS(in 2019) and GODZILLA VS KONG in 2020! PACIFIC RIM-UPRISING(2018), the sequel to 2013's "Pacific Rim", is about to release to Ultra 4k and Blu Ray. In these movies, 250 foot tall robots defend Earth from an assault of other worldly giant monsters(kaiju).

Indeed, it was done by the young female(with the nice boobs) in the movie, Jason Vs Freddy(2003). Jason will chop off Freddy's head(among other things) in a short fan fic I'm going to post this weekend. ;)

Topic: my father saw several of these classic Toho kaiju films in theaters, he also a fan of them(though not as much as I am). He was on a business trip in New York City in 1964 and saw Godzilla Vs Thing in a theater there. He told me he could remember the theater being packed.

On the contrary I have a lot of respect for the "Freddy Krueger" character, Matthew. I just believe Jason Voorhees, who I've always preferred as the premier American slasher maniac, should have been the one to decapitate Freddy...and not the nubile young lady who actually did the deed in the movie.

My fan fic, in which Jason chops Freddy down to size(literally tongue-1 ) is just my way of expressing how this particular part of the ending of the 2003 film Jason Vs Freddy would have ended if I had been the movie's director.

You must remember that both Characters are popular, if you have alot of respect for Fred, cant you try and do a draw ending like I did for my story?.

I might do that instead. I'll at the very least think about it.

You could do three endings, one when Jason wins, The second when Freddy wins and the third when they decide to work together and go off and kill the teens... what do you think?.

I'll take this suggestion under advisement and come up with an ending that doesn't disrespect Freddy or Jason.

Hey Packmule,

I found this comment on "ask Max Anything" topic a bit rude.

"Packmule"

Do you believe gojiramatthew will ever come to his senses and realize that, from a creative and technical perspective, Mothra Vs Godzilla is a better film than Godzilla Raids Again?

I have explained why I think GRA is better then MvsG (1964), I respect your opinion on MvsG, but what you wrote on GS, seems like you dont respect mine.

That comment was a joke. Like many comments or questions I often post in those threads which are not to be taken ultra seriously...or literally. You take things too literally Matthew. I say that in all honesty and sincerity. Either that or your sense of humor is just a lot different than mine. ;)

Lets not forget Packmule, people might think you take things too literally as well, since I couldnt tell it was a joke, I took it seriously since to me it seemed serious, now that you said that it was a joke, Im not taking it seriously.

Everyone has a right to their opinion, in that regard. Until someone actually accuses me of taking comments posted by others too literally then, Matthew, I'm going to continue to operate under the assumption that I don't. ;)

And because of the latter, that is "the things you don't find funny", you can bet there'll be no more attempts at humor from me, to you.

In my view internet message boards are supposed to be a place where people can relax a little and have fun, and not argue about petty and inconsequential things, or where a person has to constantly explain himself/herself to someone else over what I consider to be harmless remarks.

I get plenty of stress from real life and you can be sure I'm not going to deal with it on the internet. If it means limiting my communications with those members I seem to always have an issue with which, regrettably, seems to include you, then I'll do it. It it means deleting this entire message board and shutting down my computer permanently I'll do that as well.

You won't get any more remarks from me trying to be humorous, Matthew. That should solve our little problem, yes?

;)

The Suit was the best on ein the Showa Era. Nakajima had probably his best suit acting. Ifukube was at full stride and really knew how to score Kaiju movies. This movie had several Memorable scenes and memorable human characters, such as Kumiyama.

I agree, generally, with this statement although anyone very familiar with the background of Mothra Vs Godzilla(1964) also knows that Nakajima, during the scene where Godzilla approaches the huge castle, lost his balance, he(in the suit) crashing into the structure. The impact damaged the face of the "Mosugoji" suit, which resulted in the "quivering" lip of the suit. It's no secret that both Haruo Nakajima and then later Ken Satsuma would sometimes struggle, somewhat, at getting their moves down while in these suits, which were often heavy and made of vulcanized rubber.

Is it the shaking "lip" of the suit, Matthew, you really dislike or the overall suit itself(regarding all of its features)? heyo

Its mainly the lip, it is so distracting, even when I was young, I was wondering what was the problem with Godzilla's lips, I just can like the total suit thanks to that lip.

personally I thought the worst Godzilla's suit was worst in Godzilla vs Gigan....I mean parts of it were hanging off half the time. I think a wobbly lip is forgivable when the suit is falling apart in Gigan. Still this was the early 60's....film technology has come along way since then and dispite that this was one for the best Godzilla films.

I always try to measure my critique of a movie, regarding its special effects, by the technology that was available at the time the movie was being made, something I wish more members of various kaiju themed message boards would do. I believe it's impossible, not to mention unfair, to judge a movie's effects without taking this into account. I cannot count the number of times I've seen comments like "GFW blows the Showa ere movie effects away!" and such. Considering that GFW was made in 2004, and with CGI, digital editing, advanced camera and audio technology, green screen and wireworks(for the actors) technology available...why wouldn't it be superior in effects? !! Eiji Tsuburaya has a man in a vulcanized rubber suit, matte paintings, constructed miniatures, some mechanized elements associated with the suit actor and other optical techniques like "forced perspective" and that's it.

Well the suit was first used in Destroy all Monsters till Godzilla vs Gigan, plus that it was during the 70's, where Toho had the most problems, the suit was good in DAM but by GvsG is was terrible, but I still prefer it over the MvsG suit, I just dislike the look of Godzilla, mainly the lip.

True, it was the 60's and Technology has improved, but IMO I found the suits before MvsG better.

of cause I respect it even if I disagree...it's as I sad if everyone agreed with each other on everything thing the world would be a very boring place but people with their own opinions will find strengths a weaknesses in things that others may not notice. So of cause I respect it.
