In December of 2000 Toho released the 2nd Millenium film, Godzilla Vs Megaguirus. The story: the movie starts out with a flashback to G attacking Japan in 1954, then again in 1966. Flashforward to present day, where the G-Graspers, an elite team of anti-Godzilla commandos engage the monster king, scurrying between buildings to fire their RPG's at Godzilla. The C.O. of the unit saves one of his best team members(but sacrifices himself in the process). Meanwhile, local scientists(in conjunction with G-Grasper) have developed a device, The Dimension Tide, which can create an articial black hole in which Godzilla(in theory) will be sucked right in. During a test run of the machine, a small blackhole forms, as designed, with one slight problem: it allows creatures from another dimension to enter ours. The man-sized, flying monsters, resembling dragonflies, attack and kill a few people before turning their attention to Godzilla. Ultimately these winged monstrosities collect together underwater and form into one giant monster, Megaguirus, setting the stage for the climactic battle between Godzilla and Megaguirus. Post your thoughts and opinions on this film here. :)

:D Best Goji movie ever! Megs is the coolest kaiju, the DT reigns supreme over other defense techs, and Goji looks his finest.

I really love this film! Couldn't agree more with Megaguirus being one the the best of the kaiju and I think the underwater scenes are outstanding. Kudos to the look of Godzilla, as well....

Though I am in general agreement about this being a great film one criticism I do have is that there are frequent scenes where the wires are clearly visible during Megaguirus' flying scenes, and the battle scene with Godzilla. thumbs down

Yep, and DVD gives every one of those wires away.

Yep, and DVD gives every one of those wires away.

It would seem that as the prints for these films get better, so does the visibility of the wires. Other films reviewed with "wire visibility" criticisms: Destroy All Monsters(1968-the Region 2 DVD) and Ghidrah The Three-Headed Monster(1964-the Region 2 DVD)-both reviews of these movies mention those annoying wires. confused

One of the few drawbacks of HDTV, I guess.

One of the few drawbacks of HDTV, I guess.

That, and the price of an HDTV set. I read Dan that Congress may pass a law requiring all communications and media companies to produce all their signals in HD. That also means that if you, as the consumer, still have an analog TV set, you will either have to buy an HDTV set or a converter box to receive the HD signals. thumbs down

Yep. I heard that too. That SHOULD mean the prices on HDTV will come down so that's a good thing.

I'm sure that prices will come down, but still, for myself, with $850 invested between my two televisions(a 36" standard screen stereo "Magnavox", and a 30" widescreen flatscreen "JVC"), both bought in the summer of 2005, I am more inclined to buy the converter boxes. As I do not watch TV very much, and watch fewer films on DVD these days, both of my TVs should still be in great shape in four more years. Then there is the financial aspect to consider Dan, which I can sum up as thus: unless money starts growing on trees I will have to opt for the boxes. tongue-1

I like the meganeura(dragonflies) in Godzilla Vs Megaguirus(2000) as well. They certainly weren't very friendly, attacking and killing the couple in the alley in this film. I thought Megaguirus made for a fairly good opponent monster for Godzilla. :)

I do like watching GvsM but it was a bit of a disappointment from G2000.

Godzilla does look similar, but his light green skin and more pink on the spikes ruin it a bit.

Megaguirus is a nice kaiju, but does look like plastic abit.

The strings can be seen which is a pain.

But the fight scenes are cool and fun.
