In 1992 Toho released Godzilla Vs Mothra. The story: to study climactic changes brought on by an asteroid slamming into the Pacific Ocean, a small group of people head to Infant Island. There they discover a giant egg and two tiny female fairies. One of the members of the group, through his boss and employer, Maritomo, arranges for the egg to be transported back to Japan(for presumably commercial purposes). They encounter a problem after departing the island: Godzilla, who has erupted out of the sea and interrupted their transit. The egg hatches, a larval form emerges and battles Godzilla. Shortly thereafter another monster, awakened by the asteroid collision, joins the fray: Battra, aka "The Black Mothra"(larval form). Godzilla and Battra fight on surface and below the waves, while Mothra swims away, back to Infant Island. Later, after the fairies are kidnapped, Mothra(larva) comes to Japan, then coccoons herself after being assaulted by the local military. The final battle includes all three monsters(Mothra and Battra in adult form). --Post your thoughts and opinions about this film here. :) |

Sub-Par. Battra was a cool idea, although Gigamoth seemed like it would be cooler looking. I just hate the little girl. She should die. |

I did not like this movie nearly as much as it's predecessor(G Vs KG) or the next(G VS MG II). Thumbs up: 1. the score, which was good, particularly the Mothra and fairies themes 2. the final battle-rendered very well IMO---Thumbs down: 1. the old(the higher pitched) roar of G-I much prefer the deeper, more menacing "old" roar from the '84, '89 and '91 films |

I loved this film, the SPFX weren't as good as they should have been, but Battra was kick ass. I liked the Mothra fairies in this film the best in conparision to the other films. I also loved their singing in this film too. And having my fav. kaiju (Mothra) in the film helps too  |

My biggest gripe is the phony laser-beam that Goji now shoots. Why did they change it? |

This is by far my favorite post 1960's Godzilla movie! Great human story! Especially for women who can relate to it more. Thats why it is so popular in Japan! |

Can you elaborate further about how it's different? I noticed a difference in the way Godzilla's beam sounded but not the way it looked. :) |

I can't stand this movie, it's boring...the plot does nothing but cram that enviromental stuff in your mouth. And don't get me started on the birth of the Power Rangers-like Mothra  WHY DID THEY CHANGE GODZILLA's ROAR AND BEAM SOUND!?!? I'll just end it there... |

Seems that changing the sound of Godzilla's beam in this film is a thorn in a lot of people's sides... :ph43r: --After contemplating this sound I think the closest thing in real life I could compare it too would be those wall-mounted hand dryers in all the fast-food restaurant restrooms... crazy |

This wasn't even a Godzilla movie. He was just in a couple of scenes. All the rest of the movie was Indiana Jones rip-offs and two Japanese women singing while two giant moths shot phasers at each other. |
