Nah! It was more than that! It's easily the most Asian oriented of the Later Godzilla movies. And it's also a movie that tried to expand it's fanbase by incuding women into their target audience! Thats why it's so successful in the theater and on DVD in Japan!

If you don't mind my asking, and pardon my ignorance on the subject matter, but what exactly is it that makes this movie so popular with women? I have read various allusions to this in magazines and I am still hazy about this. :)

This wasn't even a Godzilla movie. He was just in a couple of scenes. All the rest of the movie was Indiana Jones rip-offs and two Japanese women singing while two giant moths shot phasers at each other.

What's wrong with that, Godzilla can't take up the entire movie. I loved this movie, I loved the characters, the monsters! I do miss Godzilla's old roar, and the old sounding beam. Everything else was good IMO.

the main characters about the broken family and the lead male and how he becomes a true man in the end of the movie make me like it!

Okay, I can buy that. The "hero" in this film indeed starts out as a thief and a shyster, not to mention an absentee father. Judging by his reactions to his estranged wife and his daughter I got the impression he loved them both, but was intimidated at the responsibility of being a family man. I believe it took him realizing that his own daughter, despite her young years, knew he was a thief and stated her disapproval right to his face-and to his credit he stepped up and got his act together in order to get back to being a husband and father...and now I'm through playing Dr. Phil here in my analysis of these character interactions. tongue-1

I found this the weakest Godzilla film in the Heisei era.

Godzilla's look was good, but his atomic ray sound, it pretty silly.

Mothra looks good, but she does look a bit fake.

Battra was very good, even better then Mothra, the design was great.

The Special Effects are fine, but the strings can been seen if you look carefully.

Another thing is that little girl and the Cosmos are a bit annoying.

While I believe Godzilla Vs Spacegodzilla(1994) to be the weakest in the Heisei Series I do think this one would be a very close second for me. noddy

Good observation. The sound effects used for Godzilla's oral ray seemed higher pitched. I wonder why the change?

Which Godzilla roar do you like better? The one from Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah(1991) or the one from Godzilla Vs Mothra(1992)?

The roar from Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.

Godzilla sounded more monster-like to me.

Same for me.

I thought I read somewhere that the original Godzilla "roar" was simply speeded up in order to create the "new" roar which is higher pitched.

I was please with how much it reminded me of the original Mothra movie.

I've alway thought this movie showcased Mothra the best as a kaiju, after the 1961 "Mothra" film. Just my opinion. I liked the rendering of "Mothra's Song" in the 1992 movie: it sounded very nice. thumbs up
