I love Minya!

Waaaaagh-Waaaaaaaa!

Throughout Godzilla films, my Minya takes:

Worst "Minya" rendering-Son Of Godzilla(1967) thumbs down
Best "Minya" rendering"-Godzilla Final Wars(2004) thumbs up

The 1993 film: IMO the best of the Heisei Godzilla films. :)

I loved Junior in Godzilla vs Destroyer. He was a tough little scrapper.

I loved Junior in Godzilla vs Destroyer.  He was a tough little scrapper.

Indeed he was. I liked how "Junior" picked himself up after having a building brought down on him. He also learned how to put his oral beam to good use. Though I understand how "Junior's" death worked into the storyline of this movie it still pissed me off to see him killed. It was one of only a handful of scenes in all of the G films to get a strong emotional reaction from me. Watching Miki Saegusa cry also made me :( , and wanting to comfort her.

Although it wasn't clear in the film, Junior was resurrected as the new Godzilla at the end of the film. Too bad Toho didn't continue with the Heisei timeline. I think it would've avoided a lot of confusion among viewers.

I agree with you here. If you look at Godzilla Junior at the end of "G Vs Destroyer" and then look at the Godzilla that first appears in "G2K" I could see how they could be the same Godzilla, assuming G Junior continued, due to his irradiation at the end of the '95 film, to change in appearance until he looked like the G2K form. I could have accepted that with no problem.

Yeah, I've actually thought of that too. Why they decided to start with a new timeline, who knows? Toho sometimes makes decisions that befuddle the average person.

Just out curiosity Dan...do you like the G suits used in the G Vs MG(1993) film(and the following two films "G Vs SpaceG" and "G Vs Destroyer" better than the Millenium G film suits? My preference is the suit used in 1991's G Vs KG of all the Heisei suits, followed by the suit used in G2K and "G Vs Megaguirus"

I guess I kinda like the G2000 suit. The dorsal spines on the Heisei G's back were too regular and they tended to wiggle quite a bit. G2K, on the other hand, had such wild and spikey spines. Just looked really menacing and powerful.

I really dig the suit from GFW. Seems like they took the best of all the G suits throughout the years and combined them.

I like this suit enough. I was surprised to see Toho "bump" Godzilla's height back up to 100 meters in this film. I figured they'd keep it around 55-60 meters like the previous Millenium films. confused

This is a short recap of Godzilla and Rodan's first encounter in the 1993 film, set to a different score: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7FZsvImbBY

I think this film is great, Rodan looks great, Baby Godzilla is an improvement over Minya and Godzilla... well he looks the same as before.

this film has good special effects, better then the previous film.

MechaGodzilla looks bad and the attacks are wicked.

IMO its alot better then Godzilla vs Mothra.

I also like this film a lot. Much better than 1992's Godzilla Vs Mothra. Rodan looks good, arguably better than any previous film he's been in with the exception of Rodan(1956).

I liked how Godzilla stepped up to guide Baby G back to Birth Island. The scene where the female scientist must part with the tiny Godzillasaur was sad, but she did the right thing compelling him to go as he needed to be with a member of his own kind.
thumbs up

This was definitely a solid Heisei film but I'll disagree I kinda liked Godzilla Vs Mothra more. While the it was good to see Rodan again I wasn't all that crash on the New design for Mechagodzilla which looked far more plastic then the 70's counterpart and the referring back to Mecha Ghidorah only reminded me how messed up the timeline had been made, also I wasn't over fond of the playing up on the cuteness factor and wasn't sold by Junior's psychic connection to Rodan....while that's alot of insults I have there it's still a highly enjoyable entry with great fight scenes.

I really didn't like this MechaGodzilla suit and it pissed me off when he killed Rodan. This movie, musically, was much better than Godzilla vs King Ghidorah. The piece "The Esper Chorus" is very different for a Godzilla movie, but very beautiful, too. Hearing the "Rodan" music as he was flying around was awesome to hear again. The Baby's theme was very sad and the scene where they were hiding the baby from Godzilla in the building was so sad. Godzilla just gave up and wondered off.
