Toho released Godzilla Vs Space Godzilla in 1994. The film's story: cells from Godzilla that have drifted in deep space are sucked into a black hole, ultimately forming to create an Earth menacing kaiju who comes to Earth to challenge Godzilla. Dubbed "Space Godzilla" by the defense authorities this monster invades Birth Island and, after injuring Godzilla and imprisoning Baby G in their initial island battle, Space Godzilla goes on a rampage. It's up to Godzilla, and a giant robotic creation named MOGERA to stop Space Godzilla before the space monster can suck our planet dry of all its energy.
This film is, IMO, the weakest of the Heisei Godzilla films, with generally uneven and at times subpar special effects and a score that does not satisfy like it's Heisei predecessor films. Post your takes on this movie. All replies welcome.

IMO the weakest of the Heisei Godzilla films.

I didn't think so. It was enjoyable, except for the butt scene. SG is cool, and MOGUERA looks so much better than his Showa counterpart.

Just out of curiosity which Heisei film do you think is weakest? On topic: my biggest complaints with this film are the outer space sequence, Mogera Vs Space Godzilla, poorly rendered IMO. The "butt" scene" I could absolutely do without(unless it had been Megumi Odaka's butt instead tongue-1 ). Not saying I don't like "G Vs SG" because I like all G films(just in varying degrees). Another complaint I had with this movie was the telepathy angle with Miki, which really didn't go very far, either in regards to Godzilla(T-Project) or that jackass who kidnaped Miki in order to expedite Godzilla's rampage through populated areas.

Godzilla vs Mothra, with GvsKG in a close second. Not too fond of either one.

I'm with you on G Vs Mothra '92, however I enjoyed G Vs Kg '91, despite the time travel storyline, IMO a bit far-fetched.

Toho released Godzilla Vs Space Godzilla in 1994. IMO the weakest of the Heisei Godzilla films. Post your thoughts and opionions of this film here.

In my opinion it's the weakest film of the entire 28-film series. The asteroid space battle was embarassingly awful. Godzilla takes about a half hour to wade up the beach before confronting Space G on the island. The fnal battle between G, Space G, and Moguera is way too long and dull. GODZILLA VS MEGALON is like watching THE GODFATHER PART II when compared to this movie. Terrible.

What set the tone for me watching this movie for the first time was the first battle between Moguera and Space Godzilla in outer space. This scene was surprisingly atrocious, given that we are not talking about a film made in the 50's or 60's, where bad effects for such a scene might be more forgiven-this is a film made in 1994. For Packmule watching that scene=downhill from there until the end of the film. silver surprised

I think Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla is the best of the Heisei films with Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle For Earth just barely trailing behind it.

The three main characters (forgot their names, its been ages since ive seen the film) really grew on me, I actually cared more about what was happening to them than the other main characters in most other Godzilla films.

I thought the plot was good too, the only downside to the film was the butt scene and the weak special effects portrayed in the outer space sequences.

The weakest Heisei Godzilla film in my opinion is Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, it was too boring and the time travel scene was dumb. But thats just my opinion :P

To me this was the second worst Godzilla movie ever. Just slighty better than Final Wars. If I am ever having trouble sleeping I'll but this on. Really weak battles and the love story was terriblely done! I like romance but the cast had no chemistry at all....

I'm not a romantic type but I would have liked to have seen Miki Saegusa and the G-Force guy get together. The attempt to render these two as something of an "item" in Godzilla Vs SpaceGodzilla was IMO feeble, inane, and completely ineffective. With the exception of Miki Saegusa and the other female in the group tongue-1 I did not like the human cast of this movie very much at all... eyebrow

I just noticed I have no post here. shokking

Anyway I find this the near weakest of the Heisei films (GvsM 1992 is the one which is the weakest IMO), sure this film has some terrible effects (Mogera Vs Space Godzilla) and some scenes which shouldnt be in the film (The Butt scene), but while it has its flaws it does have some strength's, like SpaceGodzilla's normal form, sure the Crystals look like plastic, but the rest of the design looks evil, Mogera looks robotic and has good attacks, Godzilla himself doesnt look all that different from the previous film, Little Godzilla looks like a cute toy.

I did think the final battle was slow, but it was good and well made, plus made the battle seem like a struggle.

I do love one thing about this film, a brilliant overhead shot of SpaceGodzilla in his Crystal Palace, Im going to get a picture of that to show you what I mean.

Overall it gets a 6.5/10, only beating Godzilla vs Mothra (1992) by a 0.5.

Side Note: Packmule, that picture you posted is from Godzilla vs Destroyah. ;)

Good thing you noticed Matthew because I hadn't shocked smiley

very funny

Mogera looks robotic
Good thing...since he's a robot in this movie. very funny

...seriously, Mogera is considered a robot, right? Or maybe a cyborg?

I agree with your overall assessment of this film.

thumbs up
