Yup!  Baragon's tenacity give him a real lovable quality--much like the Showa era's Angilas.

I also liked the "GMK" Baragon's roar. Now I like his old roar, to be sure. I also noticed that there was a general level of discontent among fans concerning Kaneko(the film's director) not keeping Baragon's old roar. While I sympathize with those fans and do understand their gripe I think that the new roar worked out okay. Baragon's "roar" in GMK(2001) was mostly reptilian, and had a distinctly pig-like quality to it as well. groink!

Also, Baragon's original roar has been recycled so many times by other Toho monsters and Ultraman monsters as well.

Indeed. If I remember correctly the following monsters had the same(or very similar) roar: Gorosaurus, Varan(from the orig. Jap. version), and Ultraman monsters Neronga, Avoras, and Ragon.

I'm trying Dan. Thanks buddy. Some days I feel like I'm becoming more computer savvy. Other days I feel like a lowland gorilla trying to figure out advanced calculus. :ph43r:

To be honest I don't know. It just...rolls off the top of my head. eyebrow

Topic: Speaking of Godzilla's eyes(like you mentioned in the GFW thread), what did you think of Godzilla's all white orbs in this great Millenium movie?

In my opinion, GMK is the best Godzilla film yet made.

As well as being an action-packed and entertaining, yet deep and meaningful kaiju smash, it's also something that very few kaiju films are: an actual good movie.

Max, have you seen the Showa Godzilla films, specifically Mothra Vs Godzilla(1964)? heyo

I do think GMK is the best of the Millenium "G" films and one of the best Godzilla films of the entire series.

Thread drift: welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks for the welcome. :D

I have indeed seen all the Showa entries, including Mothra vs Godzilla. While said film is decent to me, it had too many flaws in my view to be a competitor for the position of "best."

Though not my favorite overall Godzilla movie it is by far my favorite of the Millenium Series. When Godzilla returns to the big screen I hope Shusuke Kaneko is the director listed in the credits for the film.

I've always liked GMK over other Millenium G movies because of the improved special effects.

While I agree GMK has the best FX in the series to date, felt it was more it's depth and polish which set it above the other Millennium entries.

I've never really taken the time, whenever watching GMK, to take into account what you mention here. Perhaps I should. tongue-1

My only real complaint, regarding GMK, was the relative ease with which Godzilla dispatched Baragon in their first fight. I would have liked to have seen Baragon some what larger, and with his old Showa roar.

I liked the final battle as well, but I never got the sense that Godzilla was ever in any real danger of losing..and I kind of think that element of suspense should be in a battle scene such as the magnitude of the last one in GMK. This is probably nit picking going here. Shusuke Kaneko is certainly a director I would love to sit down with and shoot the bull about his movies.
