I wonder if that's included on the disc?
I re-checked my Mediablasters DVD copy of DAM and it isn't part of the extras, which include:

- original trailers (English, Japanese, French (poor audio quality), RADIO spots for the AIP dub (English only with still images from the film) ), a storyboard image gallery, an 8mm reel from AIP (quality is poor, but it's still really cool to see this!), image gallery and audio commentary.

I first saw this unused scene of the Godzilla-Manda skirmish in late 1995 after buying a VHS tape called "Godzilla movie outtakes and bloopers" from a now defunct catalog order company called VICIOUS VIDEO, this "company" a group of guys who sold bootleg VHS tapes of Toho and other Japanese sci-fi/fantasy cinema.

I heard VICIOUS VIDEO went out of business after they were threatened with a lawsuit by Toho. winky

Got the Destroy All Monsters blu ray today. I only had a dvd-r copy to compare it to, but the blu ray is great. I don't know how good the Toho blu ray of DAM looks for comparisons sake, but this one was very well done video and audio wise. I'll watch it in it's entirety (along with the Criterion blu ray) friday and saturday night.

These same extras are also on the blu ray.

I picked up this, along with Criterion's Godzilla today. I'm extremely happy with it, and don't have much, if anything to complain about.

Russ, I've been mulling buying DAM on Blu Ray. I have an ADV Films DVD copy, a top notch DVD-R(Region 0, a 2 disc set in letterbox with english subs and the widescreen AIP version) and the Mediablasters DVD.

I've heard lots of positive comments about the DAM Blu Ray but with so many copies of the movie already I'm still hesitant to buy the BD. Think I should get it anyway? heyo3

The special features on the disc alone (for me) were worth it. Several of them are in pretty bad shape, but they're cool. There's commentaries, trailers, and even radio advertisements for the movie. I'd pick it up, if you can get past the idiot scalpers who have decided it's a rare disc and want to charge forty dollars for it.

I have held out some hope that the DAM Blu Ray asking prices by various Amazon sellers might come down...no such luck though. Yesterday it was listed at $90. loco2

I found mine at Barnes & Noble. It's a little expensive to shop there, but it's better than sitting there sifting through all the assholes on Amazon trying to get a million dollars apiece for them.

Whether you can still find it in retail stores I don't know. I went to get mine like a week after it was released, so i don't know. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I was at Barnes & Noble Christmas week(but before Christmas day) and ordered the G Vs Biollante BD from them. Why in hell I didn't think about asking if the DAM BD was in their inventory is beyond me. loco2

One of Barnes & Noble's listed vendors is offering the DAM BD for sale...for just over $175: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-destroy-all-monsters-akira-kubo/3558576?ean=631595112481

Wow. That is disappointing. I had no idea that it was that bad. Maybe one of these days it'll turn up somewhere for a decent price.

The Toho all regions DAM BD is about $60 and can be ordered from CDJapan but it has no English subtitles like all of Toho's kaiju films on BD. Nono

About the Baragon suit, it is a shame, however that consequence did allow Gorosaurus to shine in his place
Indeed. After Godzilla Gorosaurus, I thought, did the best job of having Godzilla's back in the final battle with KG. I also think that "Goro's" eruption out of the ground under the Arc De Triomphe in Paris(France) is an iconic scene in all of Toho's kaiju films. I know when I hear the words "Destroy All Monsters" I usually think of that scene and the AIP trailer graphics in which "DAM" is displayed vertically, top to bottom of the television screen with shots of the monsters in the background. thumbs up
If I remember right, according to Wikipedia, the reason why Gorosaurus was used in destroying the Arc de Triomphe was because the Baragon suit was out on loan in another production. I never understood why the correction was never made in the movie when they said Baragon was attacking Paris when it was actually Gorosaurus. (they even continued to use Baragons roar) I still like the scene, but I still would have loved to have seen Baragon in that scene.

Here's the info.

...I was thinking...would anyone else have liked to see these monsters used a bit more even if they are second rate Monsters?

Absolutely, I would have liked to have seen more footage of Varan and Baragon, two monsters I have always thought were top notch "ground pounders" like Godzilla and Gorosaurus. Manda, IMO, got some decent coverage from the Tokyo assault sequence.

It's no secret Varan and Baragon were not used more, by Toho, because both of the respective suits for these monsters had deteriorated badly by the time DAM had begun lensing, and were deemed by Toho to be fairly unusable(in any close up shots), particularly the Baragon suit, which had also been used for multiple episodes of the Ultraman TV series.
I have never been very high on Varan, but I would've loved to have seen Baragon used more like they had originally planned. Looks like they should've made more than one Baragon suit. DAM is still one of my favorite G movies. The attack on Tokyo is still one of the best attack scenes in the Godzilla series.

Toho strikes again, I'm afraid. Apparently Media Blasters included some material on the disc that Toho hadn't cleared for this release. I don't have an official source, other than someone else's forum post on Tohokingdom, but it sounds like something Toho would do.

I think NWV is correct. I remember hearing that because of this they made them stop producing the discs, and I never heard any news that they got the situation resolved.

That whole situation reeked of unprofessional business ethics. At first, it sounded like an accident. And I would have kept on thinking so if it hadn't have been for the Megalon fiasco. I've always supported Media Blasters in the past, but this was just despicable. And now, those who actually appreciate the product (who don't yet have it) are suffering because of scalpers.

The stupid thing about it is that people still b*tch about how bad a job they did on it. The PQ, the sound, the quality of the special features, blah blah blah. If it's such a crappy release, why ask so much money for it? It just makes no sense to me.

Greed, pure and simple. I was absolutely appalled and disgusted when I first saw what various Amazon sellers were asking for the Mediablasters DAM Blu Ray.

One seller had a posted asking price of $999.99 for this BD release. loco2

I guess these sellers believe that someone who enjoys kaiju films and collects them on DVD and Blu Ray has enough money to burn that they can pay over a grand for a single Blu Ray.

Personally, these sellers are not only greedy but are also idiots. winky

With some down time from work(due to snow storm this past Tuesday) I sat down last night and watched Destroy All Monsters(1968), the Mediablasters(Tokyo Shock) R1 DVD release. I watched the movie in Japanese language with English subtitles. Unfortunately, and at least on my DVD copy of this release, I have several audio issues when watching the AIP, English dubbed version of DAM. The audio "issues" I refer to are a low level combo rumbling-flapping noise: it sounds like paper flapping from a nearby fan. loco2

I left this one as a surprise for my friend. I made him look away as I started the movie and even hid the DVD cover from him until after we watched the movie. I wanted to see his excitement as all of the monsters started showing up and I wasn't disappointed. When the Monsterland scene started, it was normal, like "Ok, there's Godzilla, ok Rodan..... HEY Angillas!! Hadn't seen him in a while, oh look Mothra, Gorosaurus?" It was then he realized this movie would be just monsters galore. Then they started attacking the world. Got a good "Woah!" when Godzilla blew up the United Nations building. Then when the monsters finally started showing up in Tokyo it was on. Finally came the biggest surprise when King Ghidorah showed up at the end (happens to be his favorite). WTF moment when Dr. Otani jumps out of the window.

He also noticed the flaw when they're having the gun fight in the Monsterland control room. It was hard to tell who was who because everyone was wearing yellow.

The "Baragon" suit was used extensively by Tsuburaya Productions for the Ultraman(1966-1967) TV series, this suit loaned to them by Toho. The Baragon suit was used to create the monsters Neronga and Gabora and I believe a few other monsters as well so it seems reasonable to assume this suit was likely not in the best of shape when lensing for DAM began.
