Well, another Super Bowl has come and gone. That said what can we look forward to this coming fall with the next NFL season? Which teams will be playoff contenders? Which teams will struggle? Your favorite player? Talk the NFL here. :D See below for my favorite team.

Dolphins will at least take the division this year. With Nick Saban at the helm, they should get some nice draft picks. With many vets coming back, we should have a solid team, and we should at least be in Super Bowl contention. (I hope)

I'm with you on this, however it will not be easy. Recall the looks of the players faces on the New England sideline minutes before their loss to the Broncos in the playoffs. Also, look for some of the player dissension that arose on their sideline during said game(i.e. Willie McGinest Vs Larry Izzo) to morph into a renewed commitment to get back to the big dance this coming season. I would love to see the Dolphins and Patriots become the great rivalry it used to be. :D

I'm a Broncos fan, have been for more years than I can recall, but I suffered through the three horrible Super Bowl losses, before they finally won back-to-back championships. I said all season that they may have had a good 2005, but knew they were not playoff caliber good, yet. I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Jake Plummer, so until he can overcome his tendancy for making bad choices.

I think in this case good things came to those who waited, i.e. the Broncos fans(two Super Bowl wins back to back after some miserable losses). In regards to Jake Plummer, his decision-making skills are, IMO, improving. One thing I would remind you is that he came to Denver after John Elway, one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks to ever play the game, retired. I sure wouldn't want to try and fill Elway's shoes  -not saying that Plummer should not be held accountable for his play, but I would give him another year to get over the proverbial "hump'. ;)

I agree, I always said that if my Broncos won a Super Bowl, I'd never ask for another win, then we got two championships and I said I would be satisfied for life, but life has a way of making one just ever-so-slightly greedy and I'd love to see another win. You're correct, filling Elway's shoes must be a daunting task for anyone and Plummer's decision making did dramatically improve this season, until it got right down to the big game. I'm hoping next season will be an even better season, but we've lost Kubiak to Houston, so time will tell, rather quickly, I'm betting.

In packmule's opinion losing Gary Kubiak=possible slippage in Broncos offense, but with Shanahan, an offensive-oriented guy already in charge, I wouldn't bet on the decline being very large, or lasting for very long. Probably will be more like a hiccup. :)

Hey, Pack!

Your site is looking good. Glad to be here.

Anyway, just wanted to say that the Mike Martz deal with my Detroit Lions as offensive coordinator has happened. It's a 3 year deal. I still have little confidence the Lions will reach 500. Again.

Thanks! I understand your pessimism regarding the Detroit Lions. I used to have the same regarding my hometown Atlanta Falcons. My guess is the source of your pessimism, and Lion's fans in general, would be the GM, Matt Millen. From what you have told me he is generally disliked in Detroit. I have read that the Lions owners are still behind him. I wonder why they would be, considering the team's bottomline won-loss records for the last five years. Maybe it's his cologne tongue-1 ? Martz should help the Lions put more points on the board, but whether that translates into scoring more points wih fans...remains to be seen.

Hard to believe the NFL season is over, and the 40th Super Bowl decided. The fact is, much as I hate to admit it, the majority of Super Bowls I have watched were not as competitve or dramtic as I expected(and hoped) them to be. As always there are exceptions. Post here your favorite Super Bowls and feel free to talk about why they are your favorite. Mine: Super Bowl X, Pittsburgh Vs Dallas, and Super Bowl XXXVIII, New England Vs Carolina-both dramatic games in which either team had a reasonable chance of winning ---- :D

Well the Lions fans are frustrated not just with Millen but also ownership. But I've gotta blame the stupid fans that year after year buy season tickets and sell out Ford Field. Since the Ford family is making money they'll have no reason to change. You've gotta talk to them through their pocket book. Fire Millen signs just won't do. Especially after you've just plunked down money and put it into the Ford family's pocket.

Marinelli (sounds like a spaghetti sauce, doesn't it?) and Martz are definitely a step in the right direction.

Yeah, I know. What the hell were they thinking when they drafted Mike Williams? LOL Stupid Millen.

Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIII would be my favorites, just because my beloved Broncos finally won the 'big' one. :D Another fave would probably be SB XXXIV, I believe that was St Louis and Tennessee, a fantastic game and one that could have gone to anyone. I also enjoyed the three New England Super Bowl wins, as a winning margin of 3 points is just about as exciting as it can get.

Frankly, most of the Bowls in the past 5 years have been pretty bad. (Damn Patriots! ) If I was alive then, I might have said the climax of th ePerfect 1972 Dolphins. :D

Good thing the Lions fans are doing it, since the Ford Motor Company ain't setting the world on fire right now tongue-1 Look for Detroit to improve next year to seven, maybe eight wins. I think this is realistic. Other news: Art Shell has been rehired by Al Davis to be the head coach of the Oakland Raiders. In packmule's opinion Mr. Shell should never have been fired in the first place. Also, the Houston Texans have re-signed David Carr, a move that would(seemingly) preclude their drafting Reggie Bush #1 in the NFL Draft. Comments on this guys?
